Whilst servicing van today noticed this sort of restrictor in the airbox is it required or can i remove itImage

The part number comes back as an "air flow straightener"

Used to apparently minimise air swirling and uneven air patterns for better readings

Interesting, i have since found out that it was placed in during the E189 fix as you said to ensure the maf gets accurate consistent flow seeing as the van is remapped cant see it making much difference

It will probably throw up the coil light and a fault from the MAF if you leave it out that's if it was already in when you had the remap done.... this is what I found when I took it out even with the E189 rolled back.

Left it out buddy and been driving all day, doesnt seem to of made a blind bit of difference i dont have a dpf etc so pretty much free flowing, not sure if its placebo but fuel consumption seems better see how it goes
