Rain sensoring wipers

Post by Jason Marais »

Hi All,

I don't know if this is already posted somewhere but I couldn't find it so...

I want to fit rain sensoring wipers to my 2007 sdi caddy is this even possible and if so is there any advice on what I need to purchase and install to be able to make this work ?

Kind regards,
Jay

Anything is possible,
I've fitted the oem Rain and Light sensor (RLS)
I now have...
auto wipers
auto lights
coming home, and leaving home lights
rain closing windows

That's awesome! How much would I need to spend for this system and do I need to "pre-mod" other aspects of my van in order for it to all come together ?

Hi Tommyzoom, I would like the info on the rain sensoring wipers but I am not authorised to use the link you posted, any chance you could list the parts needed?
Many thanks, in advance,

That would kind of defeat the restrictions applied to weed out the scammers and undesirables..( this isn't aimed at you btw). Get your post count up, and contribute to the forum, ask for an upgrade in the relevant place, and a wealth of knowledge will open up.

I have 33+ posts, and have applied for full access a couple of times, but nothing for over 2-3 months, so makes things a bit difficult. But this is the next quality of life mod I'd like to do next on my caddy atm, plus maybe a heated windscreen from a MK4. As I have a Life model with a rear view mirror, is there a sensor housing specific for that, do you know?

Has anyone ever had rain sensing wipers that actually work well? I’ve driven a lot of vehicles with rain sensing wipers and have never found them to be that good. They’re either not sensitive enough or OTT with wipers flinging around flat out. Then occasionally on a dry day get a random unexpected wipe that scares the crap out of me :D. Driving in rain I end up having to alter the sensitivity of them continuously so always think I may as well just have standard intermediate setting and alter the frequency of the wipes.

If you have a rear view mirror it no sé sor chances are you'll need a new mirror. You mirror clips on to the sensors base. There's two types of sensors as far as I know. A rectangular one and a round one.
Have a look at carcat.info it should be under electrics. You'll find the rain sensor And its part number. The mirror is under body.

Regarding permissions, something is going on with the admin cause it's never taken this long. I hope he's ok.

You can change the sensitivity with vcds but yes, I think they could work better. Having said that, it must be very hard to get a decent reading from such a small surface.
