First off I’d like to introduce myself as Tim, a new member. I live on the Isle of Arran and have recently bought a 2010 Caddy SDI. I know it’s not a TDI but I picked it up for a bargain with 65k on the clock and with some love it should see me right for a number of years.
I knowingly bought it with a handful of electrical gremlins and mechanical issues and what I’m hoping is that with the assistance of the members here, I can work through them one by one. I’ll explain the issues and also attach the output from VCDS (which I have access to) and the plan is to let people know the outcome to hopefully help others in the future.
First of all, it was garaged for a number of months as there was no power to the ECM, to the point where the previous owner just wanted to be able to drive it. The fix for this has been to piggyback a 12v feed from under the dash to power the relay in the engine bay. The wiring isn’t pretty, but from what I gather there was no power to the front of the board in the engine bay.

The left indicator light on the dash is always faintly lit, but does flash.

It can be a bit tricky to start, and sometimes requires an odd combination of taking out the key and trying again.
I will post the output from VCDS below which shows the handful of other issues I’d like to get sorted. In time I would like to replace the board under the bonnet as it’s not the prettiest but it does work, to a degree.
I’d consider myself a home-mechanic, pretty competent with the tools needed to hopefully get this lot resolved. I’m not looking to get any feedback on how much of a ‘bodge’ the current fix is, it was sold to me knowing that it was only temporary and I’ve taken this on to hopefully get things sorted.
Any input, electrical or mechanical on working through this lot would be greatly appreciated.
