Good evening everyone,
My mechanic cant find nothing so I am trying to ask you guys. When my car heats up, I start feeling random vibrations every 10-15 minutes randomly, vibration occur only 1 second not shorter not longer its been like this for couple of months. I feel it in my steering wheel but I feel it from a seat. Its like a gunshot for a second and then disappear. You cant hear it only feel it, I cant simulate the problem but I tried to lift up a pedal gas when it starts and nothing changed. Interesting is that this problem happen only during wet conditions. I just had MOT and mechanic said its all good around the suspension. What he thinks maybe stuck caliper? But wheels seems to have normal temperature after long drive.
I forgot to mention that it does only when I drive on highways 100kmh and above.
CADDY MK4 2K 2016 2.0TDI 55kw 170.000km
Thank you

Allot of things that you experience does not match, (gunshot, wet, and that it doesn't change if you go off the throttle).
But the above 100 km/h and description of the vibrations does match previous experience with my old Touran when i had a bad joint in one of the driveshafts.
Is the shafts snapped in to the gearbox or are they bolted ?
Manual or DSG?
In my case it caused great vibrations over 100, more from the body than steering wheel. If u let go of the throttle, it went away. But in my case they where the types snapped into a tiptronic gearbox. Think they could move around more than the bolted types if the joints are bad.

I had a similar thing with mine when a brake caliper seized on, after a few miles at that sort of speed there'd a terrible gnawing vibration. If I stopped for a while then set off again (to allow the offending disc to cool) it would be fine for a few more miles. See if you can pull over while it's doing it and have a sniff around the wheels. Safer than sticking your fingers on a hot disc (yes, I have that t-shirt
)

Re: 2.0tdi short random vibrations during wet conditions
Hi guys,
Finally I have found the problem...cheap tires = aquaplaning
It does make sense, because it happen only during the wet conditions. Yeah if you ask me why did I buy cheap "CENTURY" tires, one day my tires exploded and I have to immediately get a set of 4 new tires, there was no other option only these cheap tires...
So every time I feel these vibrations it is actually a aquaplaning on front wheels, that's why the steering vibrates and feels strange like something is not right with the traction or something
Next step is go back to premium
Thank you

Ok, nice that you figured it out! Don't think i heard of that before. My experience with aquaplaning is more on/off and that you really can't miss it when you hit it.
