Found LED DRLs which don't throw a bulb warning!

Post by STP »

Hi folks, quick update. Found LED DRLs which do not give a bulb warning and they are off Amazon.

Cracking white light too. £9.99 a pair. One of my standard ones blew so I thought wtf just try them. Work perfectly. No error on the dash and it was on from the blown one. Didn't clear the code, just fitted the LEDs and restarted the van. Bosh.

Now one caveat, when I swapped the dead bulb for the led one on the driver's side, it never gave a peep. So I did the other one, same - no error. Started it up to come home from work tonight, and it pinged up left sidelight. Ffs! So have to see what the coding is to turn monitoring off as the LEDs look superb.

Sorry if I've been premature, they are cracking LEDs and so much better than the cream coloured pants they call DRLs on the MK3 FL van.

Will check the coding and update. I have obdeleven and VCDS but tend to use obdeleven as it's what I started with and it's been superb for adding options and coding stuff.

I quickly cleared the codes before driving home tonight so will see if it notices them in the morning. Bloody bulb monitoring is a load of tosh, it should be possible to turn it off in the MFD for god sake.

Sorry if I steered you wrong mate, will update asap.

Sorry I can’t understand why you would want more/brighter light from the DRLs. I can understand wanting longer life. Mine lasted 2 years.
If you want more light turn your headlights on.

I have Nightbreaker 200s, they are proper white. The DRLs are a dull, yellow, horrible looking waste of time. They are of course there so others can see you, not so you can see.

I want them to look white, and modern, not like paraffin lights from 1901

Fitted these DRL bulbs from eBay. White light and brighter, but not dazzling bright. Look good and no errors as just bulbs. Cheap also https://ebay.us/m/14dYYm
