Hi,
My son has just bought a 66 plate Caddy with 113K. Whilst cleaning it we noticed a small drop of oil/fluid on the garage floor. When we looked under the car there appears to be some fluid leaking form the area behind and to the left hand side of the stump pan. When the ignition is on but the engine is not running there seems to be some sort of motor with 20mm or so pipes coming into and out of it that is making a buzzing noise. And has fluid on it. Does anyone have anyone what this pump is and whether the buzzing is normal and if there is some sort of leak there what it might be? The pump did to seem to be a power steering pump, but cant think what else the pipes might be for.any ideas welcome. Would take a picture but not with the caddy at the moment. We are worried we might not have bought a good one, if this is serious. Thanks for any help offered.

Re: Fluid leak from engine
That pump is the extra recirculation pump. Just about all VWs have one it should run when the engine is over a certain temp to stop hot spots forming. They can run and stop/star at any time if a temp sender triggers it.
If it is running with a cold engine you have an issue.
66 plate so 2016/7 year? Electric power steering.
