I bought a 2019 VW Caddy Maxi (registered Jan 2020, but it's not the 2020 Caddy). I turn on the ignition, press and hold the down arrow on the right stick, and then a menu pops up with just one single option. The car was Danish originally, then I imported it into Germany when I bought it. I'm not sure if the dash language is in Danish or German, but it's definitely not English! I changed the radio no problem.
One thing I've learned is that my front radar needs to be calibrated. My usual mechanic couldn't do it, I need to take it to a VW specialist apparently. Could that somehow be limiting the menu options I can see? Is there some other trick I'm missing? Maybe it's discussed somewhere else in the forum and I can't see it. Thanks in advance if you can offer me any tips.
How can I change the language of the dashboard?

I think you would have to change the country of origin in obdeleven or VCDS for the dash cluster, to your chosen one. Obdeleven is not too expensive if you don't go for the pro one and use the included long coding function for free after purchase, or buy the pro with minimum credits and use the one-click functions. Each change uses 10 credits if you get that version and is easier, if you aren't confident using long coding, to change the settings.

Ahh, so it needs to be coded somehow. ChatGPT thought it might only have one language installed and that I'd need to install extra languages to be able to change it. I'll ask what it would cost when I get the radar calibrated then.

You can do it yourself for £65 with obdeleven.
Then you have it to code other stuff. It's really easy to use, easier than VCDS and I have both and am an engineer so no div when it comes to tech.

Can I install additional languages with that?
I have a Bluetooth dongle already, but I guess I need custom software. £65 is probably a bit steep to have English instead of German messages on the tiny screen! My German is so so, I can usually figure out what it means. But if somebody would do it for me for €20 or something I might do it.
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

Re: How can I change the language of the dashboard?
Yes, I changed my dashboard to "rest of the world" to get the digital speedo and to lose the kmh display. It's easy with obdeleven.
I also coded dips with main beam (much better lights), and rear wiper delete. Here is the options I coded with obdeleven
auto lock and unlock yes
needle sweep yes
high beams with dips yes
selective locking from MFD yes
rest of the world clocks yes
