Shackle Kit

Post by corrigan42 »

Just installed the rear shackle kit, but the driver's side seems to sit a bit differently...

The plates aren't sitting perfectly vertically, so much so that I can't install the wobble blocks.

The passenger side was absolutely fine.

Any ideas what this could be?

Do you have a photo of the other side?

Hard to get a good picture now as it’s dark Image

But you can see how this side is perfectly vertical, and was room to install the wobble block.

It almost feels like the leaf spring is too narrow on the drivers side, making fitting the wobble block impossible

It looks like in the photos if anything the shackles are being pushed out so your wobble block would end up slack, are you saying it’s the opposite?

It's hard to see in the pics due to the angle,
Passenger side (1st pic) the shackles seem to be pulled in at the bottom by the leaf spring, making it hard to fit the wobble block.
Driver's side (2nd pic), everything pulled in equally and is vertical

Easiest thing to do would be just measure everything to make sure they are both the same then you have a starting point wether your going daft or not

I haven’t got any experience with this particular kit, I just bought my van on Monday which I haven’t even received yet but I have a full stance+ kit coming so will be going through the same process

Can you take pictures of the upper bolt area on both sides. it looks like you have a spacer on one side of the bad one, making one plate sit funny, and the other side looks like each plate is equally spaced from the chassis mounting point.

I would swap the shackles from the passenger side to the drivers side and vice versa and see if it still sits like that. Worth a try. Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies! I think it was the shackles that had a weird bent in them, replaced them with the dark side ones and they fit fine, and don’t stick out so much!
