Has anyone ever tried to fit cruise control in a 2005 caddy? It is German edition, no cruise control fitted by the factory. I've read that the steering column switch has to be the correct version, and now I've found this topic of the clutch switch. I haven't checked it in the car yet, but I'm afraid I won't have any clutch switches since I'm able to start the engine without applying the clutch. I'm afraid I won't even have the harness installed, what are your experiences on the subject?
The 2005 Caddy probably has the 2 pieces stalk and 2 separate steering wheel control module.
If you're lucky, you just need the part where the cruise control is and then coding.
I'd start with connecting VCDS/ODB11 and check the steering wheel module.
Thanks, VCDS is the next investment. Until that's completed I don't have access.
I still have no idea if I have clutch switch(es) installed, will try to check that before purchasing VCDS & cable.
Any experience on those clutch switches in this era of caddy?
Cruise will need clutch switches as it must deactivate if you press the clutch or brake. There might only be one required on this year of vehicle but I'd expect it would be needed for cruise to operate.

I understand that clutch switch is mandatory for cruise control to function appropriately but I don't know if it is equipped by default? If not, is there a harness and connection installed by default for 2005 caddy?
Straight forward enough to do. I installed cruise control in my pre-facelift van.
Had to upgrade the steering wheel control module to mid/highline, using the info on the Rosstech website to get the correct part number (varies depending on the functionality you want and the type of power steering, etc)
Replaced the column stocks for ones for cruise control and coded it in using VCDS.
Module and stocks were out of a Touran.
Never gave the clutch switch/pedal any thought, it just worked…
When you say that just worked you mean the clutch-sensitive cruise control function worked too?
I believe the cruise control must work once the correct sccm is installed but the throttle-off function on clutch press should only work if there's a sensor fitted. Otherwise it wouldn't be sensitive to clutch press in my opinion. It would work though.
My take is a clutch switch is needed but should already be there, otherwise when on cruise mode and you press the clutch, the engine will rev it's nuts off. As well as not cancelling the cruise of course.

Hi, yes, depressing my clutch pedal or the brake pedal disengages the cruise control.
Given the age of your van you might also need to install and additional wire from the swcm, pin 13 back to your ECU. If you disconnect your battery (stops airbag errors) and then remove the black swcm plug you can check to see if there is a wire in the pin 13 slot. You’ll need to remove the plastic covers on the steering column to gain access.
There is a very good guide in the how to section, however I know quite a few members don’t have access. Perhaps posting the reverent parts in here will be an option to get things moving when you’re ready.
I'm not 100% sure I'm comfortable with cabling creation. I'd be fine to replace a sccm, but installing and connecting new wires is a bit more than I'm ready for.
First I'll have a look at that clutch switch, if that's there there's a good chance I'm not burying the whole idea.
