I am looking into this but due to the filler neck being a 2 tube plastic setup its looking difficult

full custom make alloy tank would sort the plastic problem!!
Looking better already..

Here's what I got up to after work this evening.
As you may know, when we put the new side panel on Hulks van he didn't like the standard filler cap as it looked out of place on the nice smooth panel so we welded in a section from a Honda civic quarter panel so it now has a nice round filler cap.
I wanted to go a step further on this van and remove the filler cap from the side panel completely.
So I cut the filler neck.
And cut some access holes in the inner quarter panel and lamp panel.
I then relocated the filler neck bracket.
This is the filler neck back in and lined up ready to re-join using a silicon hose/sleeve
The plan is to use a 12volt linear actuator to push the rear lamp away from the van while fuelling
Next job is to fabricate new panels around the filler neck and cap.

I may not have planted that seed but I'll take the credit for helping your decision to do it.
I've an idea for moving the light also but it'll be the weekend before I get to draft anything up.

Yes thanks doc for convincing me to go for it.
Money may hold me back on some of the dreams but when it comes to hard work and a bit of thinking outside the box I have no excuses not to carry them through
