Some parts turned up today, so this weekend if I get time I will hopefully install wireless phone charging in the Caddy.

Ordered a replacement centre console tray from TPS, and an Inbay universal Qi pad, which happens to be a similar size to the base of the tray. The new tray is so that if I make a mistake on this I can put it back - basically I will need to Dremel off a couple of plastic lugs from the tray and attach the pad to the underside - then wire up from the 12v supply adjacent to it. There's rubber insert available for this tray, which I already have.

More info and parts list here after I get it working...

Started the wireless charging today.

Removed tray by pulling up at the front with a trim tool.

Modded the base of the tray with a small disc cutter to remove the lugs present (judging by the size of these clips, I wonder if a future Caddy will have wireless charging as an option? They were only a few mm different from the charging pad).

After a couple of test fits to make sure nothing was in the way underneath, fixed the pad to the base and wired to the 12v socket.

Drilled a small hole for the status LED, checked it was working (maximum 8mm gap between phone and pad) and replaced phone tray.

Thanks!

Also forgot to mention...

Part no. for tray is 2K5 863 284 P 9B9, around £16 inc VAT from TPS. It probably wasn’t necessary because the mods to the clips underneath were so trivial there’s little risk of breaking it. Note that this is for a mk4 Caddy, you will probably have to do something different for a mk3.

Rubber mat from TPS, part number 2K5 863 330 9B9

The inductive charging system is “retrofitting kit II” here:

Couldn’t find a UK retailer so had to order from Germany:

Great job. Really like the wireless charging.

What are these crimp connectors you've used here. I don't think I've seen them before

^^ they came with the kit. There's two pairs provided, one for 1.5mm cable, the other for 2.5mm. I ended up using one of each type as the +ve & -ve cables on the 12v socket were different.

They simply snap on with pliers round the cable, and the spade ends of the charger connectors plug into them.

My Carista OBD2 adapter arrived today, so I downloaded the app and set about a few customisations I'd been wanting to do:

- Auto unlock when taking key out
- Chirp on remote lock
- Chirp on remote unlock
- Unlock all doors on first press
- Coming home lights
- Leaving home lights
- Disable cornering lights
- Disable flash brake lights on emergency stop
- Enable flash hazards on emergency stop

That was all very straightforward and took around 10 minutes. I'm going to contact Carista as their website indicates that "auto lock when moving" and "power steering weight" are supported on Caddy 2K platform (no mention of mk4 specifically though) and on my van those options were unavailable.
