It's really easy to replace its about half way down the van on the exhaust It's just before cat takes about a 15mins to replace most of that is jacking up the van and putting under a axle stand so van dose not fall on you. Heat sensor with blow lamp don't catch wires with flame or you've got a fire then it loosends off easy with a 22mm spanner follow wire to where it plugs in to harness under van take off plastic protection cover pull plug out on harness to ecu take ecu off body replacement is reverse of this get rid engine management light with Obd tool and away you go. The price for an oe part made by continental is £349.99plus p&p not from vw though there is a lot more. Hope this helps biggest hit is the price easy to do :D ps you could take off ecu first and disconnect from harness just in case you caught wires at sensor with blow lamp probably safer

Plumbcaddy wrote: Sat Jun 12, 2021 4:01 pm Quick update live readings for Fat Eric my live readings are pretty similar to yours first reading is 62995 second one is zero I have now changed the nox sensor and the ecu for a continental replacement from oe parts Milton Keynes we will now see how it goes.
@Plumbcaddy, did the continental sensor cure this fault?
I now have fault codes P204F00, P22A700, P20EE00 & adblue warning of 650 miles to no start.

New sensor from vw is £581 + vat

What’s the iso for adblue on your filler tank lid?

Compare with iso on tub you are filling it with.

What’s the codes?

Adblue isn’t the problem as I have purchased the same brand from VW since I bought the van.
Codes are P204F00, P22A700, P20EE00.

You buy your adblue from a vw dealer?

I meant the iso codes

Yes the continental sensor box and probe works just fine and a lot cheaper than vw not had any problems since fitting ita very good saving.

First thing I’d recommend before cleaning or replacing parts is have a look at the adblue you’re putting into your caddy.

I had all sorts of faults coming up, used vagcom to carry out the scr basic settings, 3 I think. Light kept coming on intermittently after.

Thought I’d check my adblue after a good shout from someone, it wasn’t up to spec, the iso was 22241, I’d always pick it up from fuel stations, the iso spec on the mk4 is 22241-1, I got some redex iso 22241-1 from screw fix and it’s been 2 months with no faults.

The nox sensor was doing its job, it could tell the scr system wasn’t working properly, crap def in my case.

I wouldn’t overfill, I would check date of expiry, and I wouldn’t use opened adblue.

Incorrect fuel will cause problems, incorrect oil will cause problems, incorrect adblue (from my experience) will cause problems.

@plumbcaddy the same happened to my van around same mileage as yours.
My van is a MK 4 2.0tdi euro6 bluemotion. It was the control box attached to the probe that failed on mines.

Unfortunately you can’t buy them separately they come as one unit and aren’t cheap. I got mines done through a mates garage with a decent discount from VW my mate took around 600 plus inc vat off me to supply and fit I’m sure the part with his discount was £485.18 .

One this was changed it was all good it’s VW way of shafting us or recouping money for what they’ve paid out in compo for the scandal they caused.

So I’ve got a faulty nox sensor after diagnostics from the garage, I’m looking for alternatives than the £820 they quoted me to replace it!

Ive not long ago topped up with the standard 22241 adblue. Can adblue be syphoned/drained easy enough from a caddy? And replaced with the alternative stuff? Is it likely to clear the fault or am i pissing in the wind?

Have a look at xenon’s 4 u mate
Mine went at around 50k and got a new Nox sensor from them for my 2018 2.0 tdi for around £300 and am now on 80k miles with no problems, saved a fortune !!
