Oh well, with the Caddy you need a higher load, although I only have a 91 load.
oh well, I fell in love with the Discover Media, but you need a gateway that supports 5F control units.

Even with my unit. As my van is an 2005, I had to replace the gateway for a later gateway to prevent battery drain
I also did the column module and clockspring to support the mk6 steering wheel buttons

Good news!
Mk4 door cables arrived late yesterday.
They did require some modifications to suit the mk3 latches, nothing too crazy thankfully.
The work gave me the chance to install the new latch and window regulator I had waiting to go into the LH door.
I also took the chance to install some sound deadening, the drivers side will eventually have the same treatment once the PDR is carried out first.
They tend to not be pleased when deadening gets in the way
So now I can get in and out of the van from the inside again, for the first time the passenger has a working window regulator also.
Such modern luxuries!
Unfortunately, my rear seat bracket is roughly a month away according to Volkswagen.

Love your Van Simon.
I assume you're looking to do a rear seat conversion?
Personally, I went with the caddy life seat for a few reasons.
- Firstly we have no Touran in Australia so import costs were high, and compliance certificate would be difficult.
- Secondly I dislike the middle seatbelt in the roof setup those seats use. I like the caddy life seat has the belt built into the seat. A lap belt on a Touran seat would lead to even further compliance issues.
- Thirdly I prefer the mounting system used on the Caddy life seat, particularly when the seat is tumbled or removed- the load area is mostly flat. The touran bracket would sit higher than the floor.
The downside to the Caddy life seat is the 30/60% split. The 3 seat split of a Touran offers more options, and the sections are easier to take out of the van as they weigh less. The 60% seat section is very difficult.
Hopefully I'll have the bracket mocked up tonight.

@Warrior-pete
Thank you, always nice to see another red caddy. Have you made a thread for your vehicle yet?
@Simon_B
Ok, if you're going the Touran route then it'd be quite different as to how it mounts.
Volkswagen run 2 large bar style mounting points for the Touran seat, easy to line up and weld in.
There's several of threads here for that install. I'll see if I can dig you something up that's heavy with photos.

Apologies for the delay in update. Work’s been busy for end of month.
I’ve welded in the new Caddy life rear seat front mounting bracket.
I have to still make plates for the rear bolts on the front brackets and the bolts for the rear brackets. I will be dropping the fuel tank to do that work, instead of risking any damage to the tank while I drill the holes and weld the plates in.
The seats are currently sitting in position for measuring purposes.
I have also trimmed down the LWB load impact flooring cover. Now that’s all sorted the van feels much more complete.
I'm waiting on some trim clips and hardware still as well as 2 new outer seat belts for the setup.
I will then endeavor to have some serious PDR work carried out on the van before going down the repaint route.
Post that work I will concern myself with the rear of the interior as the back is still quite shabby and spartan.

Good Evening everyone,
Sorry to not updating this thread in real-time.
Rear seat work is now all complete with all bolts and brackets sorted.
Dropped the fuel tank to finish all of that off.
Rear seat brackets installed
I've finally managed to finish off my Mk4 dashboard install and black headlining thanks to parts arriving from Volkswagen and dye finally coming back into the country for the plastics.
Love my poverty spec knob
And my genuine wireless charging pad rubber (Waiting on a wireless android auto dongle)
All together now
Finally to treat you all- have another Video episode of Covid-caddy to catch you up on the current state of the van.
