the trick is too spray a heavy coat on and leave it soak in to the glue its tedious but it does work ive found the holts tar and glue stuff is good the more watery tar and glue remover tend to dry way to fast

@Danny1221

Did you use vag can pro to code out the light warning for the reverse light? Can you share the process in vag can pro if so?

I fitted LED DRLs at the front and love them, but still have the orange warning for left hand sidelight check. I'd like to code that out, I have VCP but never used it before and don't want to screw up my module coding. It can't be done with VCDS or Obdeleven, which I am familiar with.

Today I've fitted a matt black bumper protector to my Mk5 Maxi Life's bumper as experience tells me that bikes and camping gear will soon leave their mark!

Also today (along with fitting the bumper protector) I've been using my new trim removal tools to remove the trim inside the driver side rear around the toolkit / emergency tyre repair kit.

It's a scary job removing clips for the first time as you don't know which bit to pull or how much force to use. I've only broken one clip. Unfortunately it's not replaceable as it's part of the horizontal strip that goes at the bottom of the large storage pocket. The superglue is now setting!

What I'm looking for, behind the wall lining, is somewhere to secure a kitchen unit. I'm also weighing up sound deadening and insulation options. I've gained some confidence today. Yes, I know I'm going to make my lovely new car look awful for a while but you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs!

Today I worked out how to remove the plastic surrounds from the seat anchors in the back of my Mk 5 Maxi Life. Push the pin down and out of the clip, remove the (now loose) clip, then lever up the plastic surround. Unfortunately, the surrounds of the front anchor points of the 2nd row seats are different and I couldn't get them up. I might not need to remove them, though, as I think I can pull the carpet out backwards.

I also failed to refit the side panel in the load space. I can't work out how the metal spring clips work. Time to search youtube again!

grabbed some mk5 jetta seats outta work anyone ever see them with drawers underneath ive never seen a set like these before
i must say there very clean seats from a 2008 jetta 1.6 petrol and a hell of a lot comfier than the standard caddy seats fitted them into the van this evening along with the touran seat frames that have there own storage so ive two sets of storage under both seats now
look identical to these

Thanks mate! Yeah I'm pleased with it.
Iv now done all the removable panels in the back and headliner in the fabric aswel.
I brought it from transporter hq months ago. But unfortunately this nice soft suede one is now out of stock..... Everywhere. A few suppliers do the same pattern but it's a slightly rougher fabric, still nice but not as soft to the touch as the suede one.
I'm hoping the suede one will come back in stock so I can redo the back bits in it.
If you search for RS embossed hex suede (any other that transporter hq will be the slightly rougher version)
Try RC fabrics or Harrison trim

I'll get some pics up of the finished interior later on my build thread

Admittedly, this is over the last 2 afternoons so, we can call this "one day" technically?

Dropped left and right struts, calipers, rotors, removed ball joints tie rod ends and sway bar end links.

Dropped right side lower control arm. I tried to drop the left side LCA but the gearbox is in the way and the forward bolt won't come out. I tried getting a jack under the box and lifting it up to make space but didn't quite work.

So, I think I'm going to have to drop the sub frame to replace it.

I just did both of my control arms and didn't have any issues? Did them on the driveway using the standard jack. They have to come out from behind the hub and go back in that way or they put up a real fight. Mind you I have the later ones without the aluminium ends, all steel. Front bolt comes out towards the front bumper and can't be tightened until the van is resting on its wheels again. 80nm I think from memory.
