There are no control modules left apart from convenience module that are original so where would the VIN be stored? It won't be the original van vin?

VIN is in ECU, instrument cluster and ABS module (if it is mk60EC1 version)

Has the immobiliser been disabled in the ECU or did you get the instrument cluster coded to suit the ECU?
The mk60EC1 ABS needs to see a matching VIN in the instrument cluster and ECU.
Email me all the info you have on what has been fitted, I'll try and help as best I can.

The immobiliser is currently off so I don't know if that would effect it, although I would assume even with an immobiliser defeat that the ABS module would still work. I have been nerding through the forums trying to work out the MK60EC1.
My VIN on clocks is
WVWPF7AJ7CW000429
I have come up with this code looking through forums etc working out what each one does. I know byte 13,14,15,16, and 17 are the VIN numbers.
I have configured it all as if it is a scirocco R as of course the caddy wasn't available with TFSI.
This is the code I have come up with, but it isn't excepting it.
00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18
74 3B 80 F5 49 22 00 FA 2E 0F 01 E6 92 22 00 81 38 00 00
any suggestion doc, Im stumped now!!

If the ECU has had the VIN removed as part of having the immobiliser turned off then the mk60EC1 will not work.
Like I said above, it need to have a matching VIN in the instrument cluster and ECU.
Lots of people have done this with the older ABS module and I personally think this is your best option.

OK doc,
So what your saying is get the VIN put back on ECU to match clock VIN, who can do this?
Or are you saying
Get an older MK60 unit?
Also if immobiliser is switched off it doesn't normally stop the ABS from working? I thought it checks itself every time it powers up and if it isn't happy it resets to all zeros?

Older unit is easiest solution, its been done so at least you know it works.
VIN removal from ECU is part of immobiliser off coding if I'm not mistaken.

I asked the guy who removed immobiliser and he thinks that it would not stop ABS unit from coding in.
So you reakon that the earlier MK60 unit (not MK60EC1) would work with the newer Golf R dial pods?
So would this be like a MK5 golf aged MK60 unit? To be honest I am up for trying anything, I don't care for the ESP just looking to get the dials working. Although I suppose the XDS would come in handy with the TFSI

I might be wrong about the VIN being needed in the cluster and ECU for the mk60EC1 but I cannot see why else it will not accept your coding if it has the VIN from the cluster already in.
I have fitted a fully functional 2013 Touran cluster in a 2005 van and it worked fine.
The ABS control unit was swapped for one from a 2009 Skoda Octavia IIRC and the link wire was moved to the correct pins to enable coding to the Caddy.

Do the Skodas not run the MK70 unit? non ESP The problem I had with MK70 unit is no TFSI ever had MK70 unit. I don't think the MK60EC1 has the link wires from looking at wiring diagrams, only Mk70 does it this way from what I have seen.

1K0 907 379 AF is the module that was used, it is mk70.
Dunno if the engine size is important in mk70 units, don't think it is.

The MK70 unit has no option for Petrol TFSI engine which is why I had to try MK60 unit, but I think I should have tried MK60 not MK60EC1 as you suggest. This one I think doesn't code to VIN, correct? But will work with later clocks?

Mine is a MK70 MABS unit.
I don't think any of the non EC1 mk60 units will work for the new clocks.
Spacewalker will know better than me, he has retrofitted a mk60EC1 in his 2006 Touran with 2014 instrument cluster, what has he suggested to do?
