If you're up to the task, it's worthwhile stripping the rear caliper and cleaning any crud from the piston while you have it out.
Replacement stainless bleed nipples are a good add on too, if you like easy maintenance in years to come.

@swan the bearings are on the rear I changed the front ones a couple of years ago they went on ok I think my biggest problem was splitting disc from them after but I was fitting new front discs anyway
@ doc that sounds a good call will look into that
Also replacing the bearings and discs on rear it looks like I will have to borrow a bloody big hex key mine only go to 12mm and this is a damm site bigger

I know the feeling. I’m currently servicing 2 of my motorbikes. I have a garage, but it’s tight in there are I have 3 bikes in total so I’m working outdoors myself. I’m quite wet!!

It's not that I haven't got a garage It's full of tools and materials for work which at the moment is meeting me at the door but even if it was empty the old doors are only just over 6' high but it's coming along nicely now just struggling to get the bolt loose on the rear bearings
So that must keep you busy 3 bikes a car and the wife's car
I take it you're talking about motorbikes
Expensive hobby

My problem is I usually lack confidence in doing the job unless I've done it before but you always seem to need a specialist tool just to do a minor job so it ends up going to the garage because I can't afford to mess up as I usually need it the next day for work and if she's gone out like today I'm stuck at home with no way of getting anywhere for parts

I totally get that mate. I lack confidence too. I’m getting better as I take on more jobs though. I’d have never of dreamt of changing a wheel bearing only 18 months ago. Now I can’t wait to get started!!

It is satisfying to know that you've done it yourself though :)

Update on what I've been doing so far both front and rear stripped down and cleaned up ready for painting. And yes we've painted them orange. Hung up to dry and hopefully get it all back together tomorrow as the paint is not touch dry in an hour as it says
