Looks like a nice set up but I wouldn't dare park it anywhere with the amps on show.

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
There not that noticeable if you just glance inside particularly with the doors shut
I don't really park anywhere without me being around or its at home on the drive
The sub amp the 500w gets very hot as it's loaded at 1ohm so needs to be in free air

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
ive seen a caddy with some 8 or 10s behind the seat but the subs were facing forward tucked up in that cubby hole under the cargo wall and the amp was mounted like yours but down behind the seat where it cant be seen too easy. i like your amps mounted on the wall . i would worry bout the thiefs though .

This have nothing to do with the sound. But I lowered the Caddy last year. Havn't posted any pics of that.

Thanks @Tegheim! The tutorial about the door panel removal is very useful, as well as the pictures of the mdf rings for the woofer. Maybe I'll do some update as well..

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
Hi mate, just making some rings myself. If I made rings at 21.5ish all the way up, will they not fit behind the door card? Do I have to stagger them?
Cheers

As far as I can remember it will not work without the smaller diameter at top. The big outer diameter is only to get as much surface against the metal as possible. Then you need to align a smaller diameter into the doorpanel.
First I did a big chamfer, but it didn't work. Had to make a smaller top. I also had to do them as high as I did because of the window.
Edit: If you only using less than 29,5mm thickness, you don't need to stagger. My bad.

Did you do all yours with a router, and did you remove that black rubber seal on the inside of the door card, or did you match your speaker up with that perfectly?
Oh, and one last one.... what have you used to fix it to the door, as you cant get a decent purchase on anything to hold nuts or bolts, inside the door.
Cheers

I honestly don't know what a router is? If you asked how I made my adapters, I turned them in a lathe.
Didn't remove anything except the old speaker.
To fix the adapter I only used bolts and nuts. Mounted the adapter first and used the speakerhole to hold the nuts on the inside. Didn't use any sealant because I didn't know if I was done at the moment. Now I know I didn't needed to, it workes fine!

Haha, I guessed it was one of those. But no, I used a manual lathe to turn mine.MMM1978 wrote:Cheers mate..

Re: Caddy -09 - Audio Upgrade Project
Unfortunately i don't have a lathe lying around
I'm going to try again this eve, and see if i can do a better job than my last effort. I've got some oak worktops left, from when i did my kitchen, so i'm going for one solid unit instead of stacked rings.
Finger crossed!
