Hi, having a similar issue. Just purchased 1.6tdi 2011 caddy maxi. When going down a steep hill or cornering on a long sweeping left hand turn I get the beeping and flashing oil light. Is this pressure or level warning?
Oil level is fine and fresh change.
Anyone help?

That pressure is a bit low.
I'm a bit surprised at your approach - you are doing major work obviously very competently but seemingly with a fairly random approach.
I would definitely connect it to a VCDS first.
If you do major work like you do, you should really think about buying one - going to a garage gets the codes read out (here for 40€ a time) but VCDS is more versatile than this and it's totally impractical to keep driving back to the garage - a VCDS soon becomes an essential part of the tool kit. Downside is the price, of course

There is an oil level/temperature sender on the bottom of your sump, check its wiring and make sure you don't have a break in the wire.
A vcds scan should show up a faulty sensor whether it's that or one of the pressure sensors.

Or buy a cheap code reader as a minimum....

Hi,
Starting to pull my hair out so desperate for some support :-).
So I’ve dropped the sump and checked the pick-up (all good). Dropped oil pump so I could rotate and check for wear (all good).
Fresh oil and filter
Replaced pressure switch (just to try) no change
Vcds- no error codes at all
The oil light flashes and warning beeps only when engine is hot and oil +96 dec (watched the instrument cluster oil temp on vcds live)
Engine rpm always around the 2k mark.
Fitted mech gauge - 0.8 ish tick over, 2.5 /3 bar at 2000rpm
Anyone suggest where to go next

It seems you've had a good go over it, the only other things I can think of is a blocked gallery somewhere or more likely a frayed wire on the loom grounding out imtermitedly.
You say it only happens when oil is hot but I'm wondering it its only happening when your driving changes after you've warmed the engine up. Maybe somthing else expands when hot like an exhaust cover that then shorts out a wire.
Maybe somthing behind the dash moving when the interior warms up.
Does the van smoke, does it smoke when up to temp and oil light comes on, may be worth having demesne follow you to see if a puff of smoke comes out or not.
Take a turbo pipe off and see if it's dripping with oil. Is the exhaust wet with oil inside.
Just throwing some other alternatives out there for you.
Have you tried a live vcds while driving, it may or may not flash somthing up when the oil lights come on.

Hiya, just bought a caddy and having the exact same issue, gets up to temp and then when coming off the motorway/dual etc get the light intermittently. Had the oil pump, oil pressure sensor, oil level sensor and oil filter changed. Guys at the garage checked the pickup pipe and said was all good too. Did you ever find the reason behind it? Thanks, Cam.
