I think I have a comparison table between the TDI and TFSI ECU Plugs, but there was no easy way to record the info. I tried to think up an easy way of doing it, like making up a conversion harness but it was not really possible as the engine loom is in 2 parts. One part is easy, its just a straight loom that comes away with the engine. Its the Car/Engine loom that is so integrated together. This loom contains things such as, accelerator, clutch, map sensor, fan controls, fuel pump, engine compartment fuse box box connections, all stuff needed, but then also stuff not needed like ABS, Airbags, aircon, lights, windows etc etc. So you literally have to strip the bits you need out of a full car loom, mk5 gti etc. The ECU plug is a good place to start think its 96pin, go through each wire. The accelerator for example has 6 wires to it from memory. You can strip this out and leave the 6 pin plug on it, until its time to fit the loom to the van, at which point you can either cut the cables at the 96 pin ECU plug of the TDI loom and splice the accelerator to the Van accelerator cable or run the whole new 6 wires with plug down to the accelerator and then strip out the existing 6 wires and plug. The fuel pump on TFSI has its own control module, which has a direct connection to the 96pin ECU plug, this all needs to be stripped with the fuel sender,controller plug intact. Then there are feeds needed for the fuel pump/ecu, that would go to the interior fuse box in the golf, that you will need to connect into spare ways in the caddy fuse box. Also lots of wiring that goes to the central electrics control module. Theres no real easy way of doing it, you have to just work through each component at a time, it takes a huge amount of time and commitment.

I must of spent at least 100 hours on wiring, and that probably doesn't include the times before i spent hours just looking through wiring diagrams on ELSA to familiarise myself with how VW do things. I went to the extremes of cross referencing things to FSI Touran fuse box so that any feeds that were used from the internal fusebox to a T/FSI engine would come from the same fuse number location. But thats just me I wanted it to be as if VW had done it from new.

There may be companies offering looms that you fit additionally and leave the existing looms in place, I know 1.8t looms are available like this but ones I have seen you end up with old wiring left behind that is doing nothing, and they don't fully integrate with the existing electronics, which is fine if you are not into doing electrics and want an option for getting it to work but in my mind isn't a proper job. OEM+ for me!
