Bit the bullet, took off my side rubbing strips, spot blasted the rust with 60-80 grit blast media, then covered the bare blasted metal with galv spray before mixing a little epoxy primer and giving it some protection until my mate is ready to paint both rear quarters.
I had already cleaned off any residue from the tape with lighter fluid so it was just a case of sticking fresh 3M VHB clear tape onto my painted Touran trims and stuck them on the driver side. They are wider and shorter and I had to trim off all mounting lugs on the rear one so had to make sure the front one was fitted first so you can get the line from it.
Same job on the other side tomorrow.
Looking much better.

Got my tailgate badge today after receiving an incorrect one from Vanstyle.
They only stock the 130mm item suitable for T5/T6 and barn door caddy’s. The correct one for an 03-10 tailgate van is the same as the 15-20. For some reason Vanstyle weren’t aware. They know what doesn’t fit but not what does!
Got this from eBay advertised for Caddy and maxi 15-20. It’s basically 110mm

Finally managed to code my cruise control after a bit of trial and error. I’d totally missed the step of activating the CC in the engine control module.
Van looks great.
Have you a run through how to code the cc in at all?
Thanks

Minor issue just now with fuel taking a while to prime when the van has stood overnight. Think it needs a tank pump.
However, I’ve just got another project.
It’s a 2011 Audi A1 TDi Sport which is constantly in limp mode with a turbo boost positioned code, last service required 15200 miles ago, dash fan noisy, fan speed 1 not working, MFSW buttons not working and just a general lack of love.
Paid £1000 fir it with 120k on it.
So far spent £500 on it, fixed the limp mode thing with a new wastegate actuator, whilst I was messing with that it got a new boost pressure switch and MAF so I know they’re good. Fan turned out to be have a plastic bag wrapped around it which wore the bearings so I put in a used one from a 2016 Polo and a new resistor pack. Brake discs and pads from and rear, full service, someone fitted the wrong clockspring (noticed straight away it was dated 2017!!!) with the squib I
from fleebay I got the cowl and stalks so it’s getting the cruise retrofit, now that my MFSW is working and it’s getting a belt , idlers and pump next week.

Got high temp orange paint for the callipers and an orange salt rock sticker to go on it

. My starting issue is still here after the last message, cranking after overnight parking and when it sounds like it’s gonna start but gives a cough then I have to crank for maybe 40 seconds before it’ll catch.
Prime the pump a few times then hold the key past the point you think it’s gonna start and it starts without issue. Maybe fuel running back to tank? Anyone had that? How did you cure it?
A1 now has cruise control after a guy near Norwich called Ed Levett ran the extra wire to the eco and fitted and coded it all for £65.
If anyone needs his number let me know. He can code my Touran clocks for £30 so they’re next for attention.

Finally got my new springs from stance and got them fitted this week.
The van is now pretty much at full lift with just 1/2 inch more thread remaining. The springs had sagged substantially.
She’s getting the injector seals done today, hopefully to cure my fuel drain back to tank and cure my injector deviation when idling and hunting.
