Re: My Blackberry Caddy
It’s been a while
The van is still going strong, earning me a living, looking ok. I’ve been working on a front end refresh over winter as there are just far too many caddy’s around now with the Golf Mk7.5 front bumper and I like mine to be different. I’m sure there will be plenty of these in the future so I’ll just keep changing when they get common. My custom headlights needed a refresh too after a good 4 years of abuse so I did the whole lot together so the caddy has a whole new face
It has to get ugly before it gets pretty

I painted some accents inside the headlights in candy apple red and have continued that across the grill and also all 4 brake calipers. I have a few other bits to do to continue the theme. It’s hard to show this colour in photos but it just lights up in the sun like it’s electric.

Re: My Blackberry Caddy

The only journey I made with the new bumper was directly to Y2 Customs to have it covered with XPEL PPF. They also did my headlights.
While I was there they had a photographer take some shots in their beautiful workshop.

Top work as always Stu. I really like the red accent on the front.
What bumper have you used to create your new bespoke one? Even after a good few mins on google images, I can’t work it out!

Thats a MK8 Golf R bottom half if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't have thought I would have liked it if you told me thats what you had planned but it looks awesome! Really suits your Caddy Stu and love the little red accents.

Re: My Blackberry Caddy
Cheers guys. Yeah mk8 R bumper.
The amount of money and work that goes into these bumpers is unreal and with my last one it was heartbreaking seeing it get absolutely pebbledashed with stone chips within a few short months and weeks of work building it, so this one was always going to get PPF as soon as it was done. That Xpel stuff is amazing. Completely invisible, super glossy, you can’t get the daily use scratches, chips or swirls in it as it self heals with heat. You just have to find the right people to install it properly as there are lots of cowboys out there.

Re: My Blackberry Caddy
100% agree on the ppf. I've got the whole front of the Caddy done, my entire Hilux from brand new and its on the front and along the side sills of my other car and its been invaluable, especially if its not factory paint as the respray stuff is insanely soft and more prone to chipping in my experience. Not cheap having it done but its so good these days it doesn't yellow and go hazy like the original stuff and you can barely tell its there. Who did you use as a matter of interest?

Re: My Blackberry Caddy
Y2 Customs in Great Missenden. Those 2 guys are at the top of the game as you can tell by their set up and the cars they work on daily. You literally can’t tell the ppf is there, no edge whatsoever. I’ll be getting more panels done over time.

I’ve never heard of PPF before Stu, sounds like a top quality product though. I’m getting my bonnet painted in July so I’m going to look into this.

PPF is great to avoid stone chipping on the front for sure.
Love the new front Stu!

Wow I love the twin projector headlights!
And the painted outer sections of the taillight as very 'thinking outside the square'
Very impressive.

Cheers chaps.
I like to try and do things slightly different where possible
I’m actually going to update the rear lights soon.
