ANOTHER ex British gas van.....
So picked the old gal up yesterday, 52k on the clock drives well, not yet had a cam belt done so have booked that in first thing next week.
Today I started to strip it out in the back, removed the bulk head and the internal panels, the rear parking sensors don't work but looks as if it's just the buzzer not working.
So the plans are,
Rear seat conversion
Carpeting and ply lining
Uprated stereo and speaker
The van is currently restricted to 75, so sort that
Decent and adjustable suspension
Roof rails and roof bars
Alloys

Welcome to the BG club, you can order the trims, there are a number of threads on here with the product codes you will need to order. Or you can trim the original bulkhead and make your own and save yourself about £250.
I'll grab you some photos in the morning if you like

If you get new from VW yep, and then you need the roof trim panel as well, I'm getting some hardboard and lining it with carpet

Re: ANOTHER ex British gas van.....
I just thought I'd you could find a caddy that did not have the bulkhead factory fitted that the b pillars would be complete, if that makes sense?

So a couple of weeks ago I started doing some work on the caddy, first I complete stripped it, including the dash board to do a touran dash conversion, I also changed the cigarette lighters supply so it was ignition live also fed so cable for a 12v cocker at the back of the van

Re: ANOTHER ex British gas van.....
Whilst the dash was out I also remove all of the cabling that was installed for British gas (computer charger, fuse box, battery isolator), fed the power cables for my amps that I plan to use for a sub and 4 channel amp
Also while I had the van stripped I decided to get rid of the aerials and air vent off the roof

All the hole once welded, fillered and sanded down, the weather was not great so I just primered and then a coat of lacquer just to protect until I get a better day

Re: ANOTHER ex British gas van.....
Bad weather did not allow me much time so been inside doing some upholstery work, I cut some ply to the same shape as the roof, glued some 6mm foam, cut circles out for the LED lights and the some faux suede on top, pretty impressed if I'm honest lol
Tried to use some of the faux suede to to the drive car roof lining and par so shelf but the sued was not stretchy so I had to buy some stretch suede 40 quid per metre length which is an out lay I was not expecting but will worth it

Cracked on with the sound deadening and the the dodo mat in the back, makes so much difference to the road noise

Re: ANOTHER ex British gas van.....
Can I recommend before you put it all back. Treat it for sun fade. Things like alcantara are design for not fading, Faux stuff isn’t.
Something like this:
303 Products 30307 Aerospace Protectant Trigger Spray UV Ray Protector.
You can put it on regular just easier to get all the edges when it’s all off.

Re: ANOTHER ex British gas van.....
Fitted the front and rear touran carpets, routed all the cables needed for the speakers and subwoofers, wired the amps up but left the fuse out untill I'm ready to go live, fitted a new head unit a pioneer sph-da230dab really good piece of kit, when I fitted that I ran a cable back to the rear door for a future reversing camera when needed, because I will have the sub woofers as removable I have put a little switch in the remote line so I can turn the amp off when the subs are not in
