Re: Toffee delights
Interesting to see this, I know Reflex offered something similar as a service some years ago but I never did see the details and it was all very secretive.
I'm sure you have it nailed going by your previous work.

Re: Toffee delights
Hopefully it should be OK and not too long, there looks to be plenty of clearance between the pivot and the door, so when closing it doesn’t rotate and clash with the door, but obviously can’t confirm until I try it on in a few week.

Re: Toffee delights
Curiosity got the better of me to see if there would be any issues installing the extended rear side door runner. So over the past few days I’ve been squeezing in Carbon skinning it, I lacquered it first thing this morning and installed it this afternoon.
It fits perfect, but is right on the limit of what’s possible, any further extension would require door mods to enable the door to close properly and keep the door gap the same (at minimum slotting the fixing points further inwards).
I also didn’t realise how scruffy my existing runner was getting, I think it’s a lot better now with the Carbon.
The gap increase hasn’t equated to the full 10mm of extension like I was expecting, it’s more like 8mm, but it still provides an air gap between the panel and my wheels so is a definite improvement.
Installed
Gap difference (hard to photo)

Toffee delights
Look at that…. 500,000 views, just wow!
I noticed a couple of weeks ago that this huge milestone was approaching, so I’ve been keeping a close eye on the thread, as I wanted to catch it at the perfect half a million point (or at least as close as possible).
Thanks to all that have been involved in the build, took an interest or provided any comments throughout the 5 1/2 years it’s been in work. The forum is such a great community of like minded individuals, and the van certainly wouldn’t be what it is today without it.
I’d like to think the builds provided plenty of inspiration to others and set the standard for how these vans should be built.
Whilst the majority of major mods are complete on the van, there’s still plenty of things I want to do when I get the time and have the spare funds available, but for now I’ll just keep on with the never ending maintenance to satisfy my OCD and try to keep this daily used dog van in as good a condition as possible.
Thanks all.

Re: Toffee delights
Cleaned the van after work today in prep to potentially go to a cars and coffee meet tomorrow evening near Burnley, so took the opportunity to get a photo with my daughters beetle that I’ve just finished putting on the road for her to learn to drive in.
Not sure which is cooler to be honest, Toffee Brown or Denim Blue.. 🩵
It actually makes the van look small .

Re: Toffee delights
Nice pictures! The van looks mint.
And that's the first newbie I've seen that I really like the look of. The colour, the white walls, and is there a subtle lower? Nice first car for your daughter.

Re: Toffee delights
Thanks very much.
No it’s still on stock suspension, I did consider putting some Eibach springs on it but decided the extra clearance may come in handy when she is learning to park etc.

Went to The “Unphased” car meet last night at Raineys Bolton, there were so many cool cars there. It was definitely worth the drive down. Great to finally meet up with forum member ToiletTFSI, just need to see his van now.

Re: Toffee delights
Hi buddy! Once again just want to say this is a beautiful van. I have a question about the door cards. When you trimmed them in the suede, did you take them apart again or did you cut around the inside? I've just retrimmed mine on the inside but now want to do the suede aswell, but i didn't want to re heat the tabs to unstick them again

Re: Toffee delights
Thanks all
Regarding the door panels I stripped them all down again so I could wrap the suede over the edge.
