Toffee delights

Post by Lister79 »

Great day out with the family at Harewood House VW Festival today, came away with 2nd place (or first looser as my eldest daughter says) Image and a burnt head. Thanks to the organisers and sponsors for putting a great show on.

Congrats on the 2nd. Your van looks unreal.

Can I ask, did you have the air induction box made for your air filter?

Thank Pete. Yeah it was mate, had a good look round the house and gardens, real nice place.

@Billy.2kcaddy it’s the APR open Carbon intake for a MK7 Golf that I modified to fit, I also had to modify the battery tray and make the intake duct.

Clearance for the turbo/down pipe on my EA888.3 engine, the MK4 pipes come up and over, whereas the MK3 go down and round.

Toffee delights

Post by Lister79 »

Got Cleanfest show coming up in a few week and as it’s indoor I thought I’d try some lighting for in the engine bay. I made them from some LED strip lights, DC connectors and some 9V battery packs.
I think it looks pretty cool all lit up, I just need to sort a better way of fixing them in position as the adhesive can’t handle the engine bay heat, and they started sagging after a short drive.

Lighting looks great Chris, you feel it should only be in place for shows and then removed for day to day. What do I know 😂

Thanks both.

Yeah that’s what I’ll probably end up doing Steve, otherwise they will just end up damaged from moisture etc. It would have been good to be able to install before driving to the show though, as it would be a pain having to remove the parts to install once there.

Have you looked at 3M VHB tape as they do a version thats rated up to 230ºc https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/foam-tapes/1368453. Its available in different thicknesses and pull strengths as well. I've recently been playing with a few Porsche GT4RS parts and couldn't believe they are held together with VHB tape, even the rear wing end plates!

I just joined this site today, and I currently have a 2018 Mini Cooper JCW but thinking of changing to a Caddy panel van.

Always loved the idea of their potential on styling.
I was googling generally yesterday and liked the idea of a brown caddy, and found a pic of one, then got this site today and turns out the google pic was YOUR actual van!

Had to register on here, log on and just say how stunning it is and how much its making me want one even more now.......if I can find the right one!
