Did you see you're in the vote for "Car of the Year" in PVW?!

Hi Dan, yeah I seen it mate. Last time I looked the Oettinger MK1 was sat at 30% of the votes, while mine was only at 7%, still nice to be entered into the running though.

Link below if anyone wants to vote.

Been getting some knocking from the rear lately, so after some faffing I found the culprit to be the rear leaf pivot bushes. Didn’t expect them to wear out so quick tbh (less than 2 year old), as I religiously grease them ever 2 week. Anyway after stripping them down to measure up, I decided to replace the installed plastic ones for some sintered bronze items. I’ll still continue to grease them, as the impregnated oil tends to glaze when used in non rotation applications. I used Oilite OB253240, with the ID machined out to 25.4mm (to suit the leaf king pin).

I've always questioned the decision on the pivot bush for this kit, they all seem to wear out before very long.
Good choice on the bronze, should last forever with your routine of greasing so often.

Yeah not a perfect solution dude, but most suitable for what I needed.
I was quite shocked when I seen the soft plastic bushes in there, not what I was expecting with the loads involved.
I know a lot of people move away from bronze to plastic these days but I must be old fashioned.

Thankyou, it’s changed quite a bit since the PVW shoot, was a good day out that.

Randomly got sent some cool photos of the van whilst I was out for a run with the dog. Just a shame it hasn’t been washed since December.

Wow, inspiring build. I bet its a load of fun to drive.

Im curious - where did you learn / develop your skills - are you in the mechanical trade?

Thankyou, yeah it certainly is a lot of fun.

I’ve been playing around with motorbikes and cars from a very young age and have previously worked in the motor trade, so it’s just something that’s come with time I suppose. I’m also not afraid of making mistakes, I’d much rather have a go and fail than not have a go at all.
