I’ve cleaned the van today in preparation for the show at Preston tomorrow.
I also fitted the battery box and new washer filler cap.
I had to cut the bottom of the box to allow for the extra wiring for the BG isolator. I actually messed up and made a small cut at the top before I realised I’d made an error. So I’m not happy about that. It was a little fiddly to fit as I only removed the battery and nothing else, but it’s in now.

Looks awesome there buddy.
Shame about the extra cut in the battery box but you can really see it

Cheers mate. I also realised when fitting the lid that it has a chunk taken out of it. Wasn’t on description but as I’ve cut it I can’t send it back.
I’ll try reshape it before I paint it I think.

Cheers mate. It’s getting there slowly.
I think the fun is in doing the work, not getting it ‘finished’

I’ve just dropped my van off at the paint shop to have my front bumper re painted. I’m looking forward to getting it back already!

The other day I also fitted extra door seals onto the driver and passenger door. Thanks @enk005 for the recommendation. Hopefully it’ll make the van a tad quieter on the motorway. Road noise is something I absolutely cannot stand.

What's involved in fitting the secondary seals? Where did you source yours? This is something I'm definitely doing. I'm the same, road noise goes through me lol

It’s dead easy mate. Clean the inside of the doors, and you just peel off the tape and stick them around the door.
I got mine from Shore Vans. I ordered 10 meters but you’ll use about 8 or 9.

I’ve not long picked up my van from the paint shop. He’s done a good job by the looks of it, but there’s a discrepancy in the colour match. It looks too light compared to the wing on the drivers side (which I had painted a while back with the bonnet)

I fear it’s starting to look like a patchwork quilt and it’s going to bug me…….I’m thinking a full respray in the same colour may be the only option.

I’ll be honest, I don’t fancy spending 4/5 grand though.

Have they tried to blend the bumper with the wings and bonnet. It would be cheaper than a full respray.

Swan’s caddy build

Post by the swan fiend »

It looks like they haven’t no. I’m going take it back to them and see what they can do.

EDIT: I’ve just had another look in the daylight and it looks ok today. I don’t recall whether there was any orangey coloured street lighting near the paint shop that always seems to show up flaws in the blue gas vans.
I’ll keep looking at it over the next few days and evenings in different locations.

The second door seals sound good at least the doors will close without it sounding as though they've been slammed shut make it sound more like a golf🤣

They do make it sound better mate. Can’t say I’ve noticed a difference in road noise but I guess all the changes I’ve made regarding soundproofing have all helped a little bit to add up.
