Swan’s caddy build

Post by the swan fiend »

Not got any pictures no, I use magnets to hold it in place. The paint is protected by the tarp. It’s only ever on for a short time anyway.

Few more little jobs done today. Cleaned down the engine bay and fitted the under bonnet insulation that I ordered the other week. I also decided to fit the engine cover even though it’s not painted. I also removed the bit of insulation from the scuttle panel. It was hanging down one side and looked awful.
I also gave it a quick once over as it’s getting MOT’d tomorrow. I’m also having a new serpentine belt fitted. Although it looks fine, I’ve heard stories of them snapping, fouling up the bottom pulley and damaging the timing or taking the timing belt with it. I’m erring on the side of caution.
Before:

After: Much better!

I’ve also ordered a Skoda washer bottle filler cap as they have a little fold out funnel in them. Simply clever, as they say! Image

The bonnet insulation looks a good fit 👌 did the clips come with it
I removed my scuttle insulation for the same reason drooping on one side
Beluga blue caddy remapped to 145ish side window and bonnet deflector lowered and 18" calibre rims on 225/40/18

Yeah it’s a decent fit, can’t argue for the money! Yes it came with clips too.

Nice improvement on the engine bay Pete, the engine cover definitely makes a massive difference!

Cheers mate. Will look better again when I’ve painted the bits I want to do.

Wish it had a TFSI in it, but I’d be kidding myself and everyone else if I said there was even a hint of it happening!

I’ve just ordered a battery box. It’s from a mk5 golf/Touran and says on the listing that it’ll fit the Caddy.
Looking forward to getting that on.

The bonnet insulation looks a good fit - added to my ever growing ebay watchlist! Where have you found a battery box and what part numbers if you have them?

Cheers mate. It’s not too bad.

I found it on EBay from SRS automotive. Part number is 1K0 915333B.

It was £25, so was happy with that.

I’d love to tell you it was my idea but I stole the idea. There was a spate of forum members getting them a while back…….plus it’s a cheap mod, and I like those!

the swan fiend well I guess that’s what this forum is for sharing and mod ideas there’s plenty on here that are pretty cheap yet really good. No idea why vw don’t have them on all their vehicles just Skodas lol

Yeah it’s great for sharing ideas and that I agree.

I’ve often thought that myself, car companies are all about using common parts across brands or models these days. The money it saves is vast. Someone in the washer filler cap department isn’t doing their job properly!

The bonnet insulation looks pucker.
With the engine cover the battery box and the washer cap it’s going to be awesome. You going to paint the battery box the same as the engine cover?

I might, I’m not sure yet. I’m going to do the headlight supports and the rear panel (where the insulation was) also.
I seem to remember you did yours? I’ll have a look back through your thread and see how it looks.
