Upgraded the split charge relay with this Victorn unit this afternoon, as planning a week away in the van next month. Few tweaks in the rear to come over the next couple of weeks. Image

Continuing with the wood theme, first barn door complete with fold out table. Image

The other barn door and retrofitted interior barn door handle. Because of the thickness of the tongue and groove and slight cupping of the timber unfortunately had to oversize the opening for the handle. Doesn’t look too bad though.

And something in progress. A bulkhead delete panel with a soon to be extended over head space to tie into the existing cab storage cubby.

Also a little over head storage space in the load area. Perfect for dry clothes, and a beach towel. Little flush fit led down light that works independently from the main lights.

Going for a bit of a rustic look. Apart from the tongue and groove everything has just been made from recycling bits of wood I’ve had lying around.

That looks class, really like the reclaimed wood work, very tidy.

Overhauled the rear brakes, new callipers, pads and disks, and freshened up the backing plates. First time ever working on brakes, both disk retaining bolts sheared off, I’m pretty sure they were the original rotors. Pretty miserable job, but learning new skills. Pleased with the result in the end, just waiting on a new brake pipes as they were both shagged. S3 brakes for the front when some cheap ones come up on eBay. Image

How did you secure the leisure battery in place? Safe to screw into the floor behind the front seats?

@LouisAMS hey dude. Yeah same here just learnt as I went. I made a plywood plinth for it to sit on and boxed it with 2x1 - essentially made made a tightly fitting frame around the perimeter. I also used a battery strap for extra security - it won’t go anywhere. If it’s an AGM battery make sure it’s vented. There are a a couple of existing grommets, I drill a hole slightly smaller than the tube through it and poked the tube out

It’s with a rather heavy heart that I am putting the van up for sale this weekend. It’s been an pleasure to own, improve and enjoy this van and I will be pretty sad when she’s gone. I’m on the pursuit of a MK1 Golf so unfortunately the van has got to go. I want to extend my gratitude to all the forum members who have helped me out along the way. Such a wealth of information. Hats off to Doc for dedicating so much time to moderating such a brilliant forum. Thanks all! Van will be listed in classifieds in the not too distant. Image
