I found on my caddy that removing the carpet from around the pedal first made it much easier to pull it off as you can clearly see how it clips onto the posts.

I just rang my local VW about one of these, to be told it's a tool so only for sale to trade account holders. Halfords sell them though they're pricey there. And out of stock nationwide it seems until next Monday, though that could be quicker than fiddling with screwdrivers :D :D

There are ebay versions and Laser Tools makes a set for about £41 https://www.lasertools.co.uk/Product/79 ... ls-for-VAG which I think is the one Halfords sells for £25.

Thanks I was hoping to get one today from somewhere, silly to be held up for a few days for a 2 minute job! I'll try struggling with screwdrivers for another hour or two before quitting and ordering through Laser.

It turns out the tool wouldn't have helped in my case. I got suspicios with the lack of any movement at all of either locking tab, so prized away the rubber floor and foam to get at the mounting plate nuts. What was presumably mud from boots had seeped through and fossilised everywhere under the pedal mounting points and in and around the release tabs. There must've been a large mug's worth of mudcake to clear out! I removed the 2 10mm nuts (after chipping off enough cake to get a spanner on them) and took out the pedal and plate as one. It the took a good 10 mins to separate them! I should be able to rescue the pedal with a good cleanup (as long as the release tabs havent become too brittle) but I'll have top order a new mounting plate and replace the nuts. Another lesson learnt the hard way.

I found this searching for the LHD version of the tool.

https://www.printables.com/model/135851 ... 0238/files

Maybe it is cheaper to print than actually buying the tool. Im printing it right now and will have a go on a local scrapyard in the near future.

@ Poffe

Let us know how you get on with the 3D print
is your caddy a LHD or are you printing the reverse for a RHD ?
