The maxi looks way better than the SWB...

... but I think it's safe to say that resale of the outgoing model has just improved!

I was watching a live feed of this on youtube from Bob Flavin. Really disappointed with the exterior looks. The smooth lines of a Caddy are what makes it and now the are all gone and don't mention that stupid exposed side door rail!! One angry man here tonight!

Good base to modify for sure... for example as a Caddy R

We all can say what we want, VW doesn’t change it a lot anymore.

 WTF have they done. The photoshop versions look better but that rear end looks way to much like a combo or a connect

That does look nice mate, but then, it’s had a lot done to it, nothing that couldn’t be done to a new caddy in time.

Overall, I’d say the new van is decent. Sure the side rail cover is a monstrosity and I do hope there will be a solution for that. The dash will be fine if it’s made from quality materials, the bumper is a bit hit and miss, depending on how you spec the grille it seems.
I’m looking forward to seeing what’s possible when one of the geniuses on here gets their hands on one.
I doubt I’ll ever own one though, by the time I replace mine, I think I’ll need something to pull a caravan.

Good morning guys, I've got lots of photos to share from the event.
Overall I'm impressed with what I've seen.
There are some features I'm sure will take time to grow on people.
Since we are dealing with a commercial category vehicle there are some comfort aspects which will be lacking. The dashboard, door cards and entire cabin are just as per the outgoing model with tough durable plastic construction, this isn't anything surprising. This didn't put us off the mk3 or mk4 caddy so I don't see it as a major downfall of the next generation.
Cockpit layout and technology is really improved upon and I was impressed with the layout. There are definitely Golf aspects in there. The most improved feature has to be the relocation of the head unit display, gone are the days of taking your eyes completely off the road to see what's going on with radio, navigation or climate control.
The real stand out change which isn't obvious is the rear suspension setup. I can't wait to get a drive in one to experience how the handling is changed. I will post some close up photos of that once I'm back on home soil.
While this is a major change, I don't feel there is anything that would put me off a purchase if I was in the market for such a vehicle. Sure there are things you won't immediately like but as can be seen from the photo of the connect, there are possibilities to improve. I would suggest you compare the new caddy in basic form to the connect in a similar specification before passing judgement. A boggy basic connect is no Mona Lisa.
Regards the discussions of an joining of forces between VW and Ford, my impression from yesterday is that this generation Caddy will remain VW only and any joint venture will come in the next generation.

The shape reminds me of the old Peugeot partner/Citroen berlingo vans so think it might need to be a abit of a grower! However the inside/cabin looks great 👍🏻
