Hi all, everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but I will say don’t judge until you have actually seen and driven one.

Yes some parts feel cheaper than the old van, that’s automotive cost cutting for you, currently I’m having an argument with VW over the lack of a rain sensor, which, they deny is standard or even an option on the Pro spec!

The DSG is smoother than the old 6 speed, you really don’t notice it changing gear, and, it’s the DQ380? Gearbox, so no dry clutch!

The 122ps engine has a nice linear power delivery, as I’ve said, I honestly don’t think there is much in it between this and the old 150ps.

I’m absolutely happy with the van, I do know one thing, and that is I will not be buying another connect!

@sportvan
Maybe a dedicated mk5 section would be a good idea on the forum? Maybe have a chat with doc.
Would also be interested at having a look at the load space if you get chance to take some photos.

Would you recommend the dsg over a manual?

Thanks katie

Yep exactly, except the dealer still denies this option exists. I’ve even pointed him to their own press site which states “lights and vision” package. It’s quite laughable really!

Pretty much correct for any manufacturer, well apart from Toyota and we have found Volvo to be Fantastic.

Anyway.

Just emailed this to the sales bloke who is trying to deny that auto wipers are fitted. The van is looking for the sensor! 😂

Let’s see what happens next 🤦🏻‍♂️

Finally saw one parked up on a side road today.
Same colour as my Mk4 in reflex silver.....and sorry, its horrible! That front bumper with all the holes in is just a disaster 🤮

If the looks do nothing for you, maybe the tunability of the engine will appeal to you.
Uber tuning have this week had a 75bhp/225Nm van in for map development.
Essentially, as is normal, these are detuned engines. The end result was 202bhp and 466Nm.

I seen a white one at the weekend and thought it looked nice TBH. I wont be selling my MK4 just yet but if I was looking for a new van in the near future I think the Caddy is still the nicest compared to what other manufacturers have to offer.

That’s a hell of an increase! If I had one, that’d be my first mod I think.

They are impressive figures I'll give it that, why are engines de tuned? I have the 75hp 1.6 and if it can make 150 with a tune then why doesnt It leave factory like that?

It's all about tax classes for different countries.
Plus the manufacturer can charge more for higher power models.

Ahh I see, with that being said then because I've always been 50/50 with a remap, it's well within its capabilities with the common re map to around 150 and not cause any additional wear and tear because of it?sorry if I've hijacked the thread a bit
