Virtual cockpit in caddy iv
There exists one already for a while. It’s not from a golf and needs modification of the dash I thought, it was one from a Tiguan. I find it too expensive a couple of thousand to get it and coded in. Besides the rest what’s involved.

@Doc. Will ask one of my friends tomorrow he installed it and coded it.
I thought it’s from a Tiguan 2016 model, but will ask.

Re: Virtual cockpit in caddy iv
I thought exactly the same. To my knowledge the head unit is the infotainment master, without which the virtual cockpit won't work.
I look forward to information back from RKdesigns friend as to what exactly was done.

Re: Virtual cockpit in caddy iv
There is a lot more involved, the caddy which has the virtual cockpit is based on much more from a Tiguan 2016. They have used an older caddy and built basically a lot over from a Tiguan to the caddy. The caddy needed a new engine and the Tiguan had much rear damage.

Re: Virtual cockpit in caddy iv
Ok, so essentially they have transplanted a complete mqb platform wiring harness into a caddy. I guess that's one way to do it but I can imagine there are many many faults codes and warning lights.
Not to mention the dashboard which must be chopped up to fit the virtual cockpit display and all the buttons.

Re: Virtual cockpit in caddy iv
My mate explained me that it can work in a caddy 4 if you want to spend a lot money, but there has to be many more done than just the virtual cockpit.

Re: Virtual cockpit in caddy iv
I don't see how Caddy4 is any different to any of the other Caddy2ks, they are all build on the PQ platform and virtual cockpit was never a factor option on this.
In my opinion, to fit virtual cockpit in a 2020 caddy will require the same amount of work as into a 2004 caddy. Both will require a look transplant from a MQB platform vehicle.
