Great work, mounting the box through the floor with the spare usually sits?

ToiletTFSI yeah, made the box small enough to fit between the rear crash bar and the last cross brace.

ktmpedro220 cheers buddy, work in progress…

No zip ties were harmed in the installation of the suspension

Not a big update however…

Control panel fabricated, painted and the components mounted.
Ps… just because it’s hidden doesn’t mean you take shortcuts and leave it untidy Image

And I cut and installed some fine st. st. mesh into the compressor box vents to reduce the likelihood of water ingress.

Let the build begin - VR6 and air on the way!

Post by C Chis »

Little bit of progress over the last couple of days…

Lifted the ply to find it was screwed through the metal floor! Grrrr…
Screw heads were all corroded… gentle persuasion required.

Image

No going back now! Marked up the cut, 5 minutes later, compressor box shaped hole in the floor. Slightly off centre to allow the box to fit without having to cut into the cross member and to avoid the rear silencer box mount.

Image

Box in for a test fit

Image
Test fit of the air tank too. Need to slide it over to the left a little more. Also, I’ll need to order up a replacement heat shield for the silencer.

Image

Box welded in, gravitex’d, stone chipped and colour matched to the inside of the van. Dual competition Grinds compressors with automatic water drain valves also installed.

Image

Hopefully I’ll have everything wired up tested this weekend ahead of welding on the Retrofication leaf spring saddles and APB/Bilstein suspension.

Oh, and the seam sealer nozzle blew off when sealing the inside so I’m not 100% happy with the less than perfect, kinda rough finish so will most likely redo it in a few weeks time when the spare parts arrive, however, sealed and protected for now.
