Cheers Doc!
And yes, off for a few miles and smiles for a few days and then it’s back to removing the last few remaining redundant wires and wrapping the loom to complete the conversion.

Hi Chris, good job on this conversion. I see you are using the caddy diesel dials still or does the r32 engine also use these type of clocks, interested that's all mate.

Cheers!
The engine was out of an Audi, different dials, housing, wiring connections and IMMO
I’m struggling to find a replacement dial or someone selling a complete petrol premium colour display with a range of 0 - 8000 RPM at a reasonable price
The dial still works as a 0 - 100% scale, I just need to remember to add on another 33.3%
I’ve got used to waiting on parts over the past 2 years, something will turn up, eventually!

Hi mate, good work.
Just on your cluster; you won’t need to buy a new premium cluster, you can buy a low spec petrol cluster and then swap the dial foils over.

Re: Let the build begin continues with VR6 heart transplant
The RPM and speed indicated on the instrument cluster should be correct despite being a diesel cluster. The data is sent via CANbus as RPM and speed, not pointer position, no need to be adding 33% in your head.
As a solution for your instrument cluster RPM dial can be changed over to the 8000RPM and EEPROM edited to suit, no need to replace the entire cluster. Any donor will suffice, even a cheap midline petrol cluster.

Ah, cheers guys!
That will explain why the rev counter goes all the way to end very, very easily
I’ve noticed that even the low end clusters are expensive at the moment!
Any recommendations for someone that could fit and code the RPM dial fit?

They are the cheapest set I could find at the minute:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144397610655 ... media=COPY
Not sure who can do them in Scotland, but I know someone in Cumbria, or if you’re heading south soon Doc himself.
You’d obviously be able to convert the ones you buy into diesel and sell on.

@c Chris
You can pick up a touran petrol cluster cheap and just change the foils over. That’s all I did and then I got it all recorded with eprom

Lister79 cheers Chris! I seem to have overlooked Scirocco clusters! I’ll have a good look over the weekend.
Sean1066 cheers! I’ll need to increase my budget from £50 strange that I’m “skimping” on the cluster, but I keep thinking it’s just for the dial and that one’ll turn up at my local breakers yard.
Doc If you have the time, I’ll be in touch once have have the parts!

I might have something in stock but I'd need to make sure it matches your warning symbol positions.
Email me a good clear photo, I'll have a look.
