Let the build begin continues with VR6 heart transplant
Cheers,
The manifold was straight forward to remove apart from the 5mm bolts at the front… bumper off, crash bar into “service” position, well, all bolts loosened and the crash bar pulled forward at the top and even then it was a hassle getting the bolts out. Longer bolts or a couple of bits of threaded bar would have been better to allow another 70mm of clearance. Can’t see most of them and you can’t reach them with your fingers, had to use the “force” to find them and a ball headed Allan key at a jaunty angle to remove them!
And the new inlet gasket was £33 from Audi. Jeepers!

Sorry, didn’t check the part number, the very nice man at Audi did all that for me.
He even smiled politely when telling me the price for the gasket and the price for the rocker cover bolt! Only £9.71 each!

Are the bolts required to be changed or is that something you wanted to do ?

Re: Let the build begin continues with VR6 heart transplant
Jeffers76 no, bought new bolts for the rocker/valve cover as I removed it for vapour blasting when I had the inlet manifold off.
I could see a little cracking on the rubber seals on the original bolts.
The bolts on the manifold are plain hex bolts that I reused

Hmmm… not sure, I’ve left it in place for now and fitted the Quattro’s front drive shafts.
I’m still mulling over fitting the Quattro’s rear subframe and making my van AW
Also, I couldn’t find any information on line about removing it.

Let the build begin continues with VR6 heart transplant
After a few weeks of indecision finally trimmed, sprayed and fitted my side skirts…
Old Skool hacksaw as my Dremel went phut (carbon fibre dust) and the cut was a lot straighter and neater!
Clamped and hot staples going in
Followed by some st. st. mesh
Finished with some flexible plastic filler and textured paint
