Just gone and bought caddy maxi life

Post by Ste_J »

Just been to see a life that I’d dropped a reservation deposit on and said yes

2019 plate. Black with front and rear sensors and park assist. Dealers sorting out a limo tint as well and got them looking at lowering :D

Just got to sell my 3 series now

Good work dude!

How did you find the drive compared to the 3 series?

I managed to sell my mk2 fabia Monte Carlo and mk1 octavo 4x4 relatively easy and quickly so you might be alright.

Be great to see some pictures when you get a chance.
They almost look like a van with the dark tints.
Good for security too.

Best of luck.

@SIMONSNOT it’s going to take a while to adjust :D The 3 series is like sitting in a go kart so the ride height and seat positioning was totally different to what I am used to

@bobededog That was my thoughts with going for limo tint. I originally set out to grab a maxi and convert the back interior. Then I started to get the back inevitable “how long will that take” Well once the dog crate was in then there’s a chance it might have taken a while :D
So the life was the obvious choice and finding a black one that I could limo the entire rear windows seemed like the logical solution
Even swmbo agreed on full limo. She even promoted the new wheel convo as we were leaving the garage. She’s going full stealth although I’m swaying toward bronze power coated at the moment

Yeah the ride is very different,

I might go darker tints on mine at some point but for the moment they are right.

And here it is. Picked up a set of gun metal VW alloys. Smoked indicators on the way. Found a place selling tint film samples so I’ll diy the rear 3rd brake light

Also got my eye on a set of covers from seat surgeon. Not full leather but there TeKKo option which is apparently a vegan friendly leather match type of material. Not that I’m vegan but every little bit helps

Booked into Skipton for speaker upgrade tomorrow

Lookin good pal!

How are the tints from the inside? Still get decent vision? I might get the rears (3rd panel) done on mine when the 3rd row seats come out.

Seats covers would improve the look but I don’t find the seats that comfy especially compared to the Recaro’s which I had in the Octavia.

Tints are surprisingly clear. After I’d specified limo tints I had a moment of dread thinking they would be too dark
Was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up and could see clearly through them

Tested them on an hrs drive in the dark this week both on motorway and roads and no issue seeing out of the rear
Can’t see anything through them if you try to look in from outside

As for the seats I know what you mean and they are no way near my 3 series seats. But they are not the worst that I’ve sat in.
I hire a load of cars when travelling for work and I’ve had more uncomfortable rides in Audi’s than the life seats

The covers I’m looking at are pretty comfy albeit not body moulded. Must admit I’ve been looking at the other options for replacing but then I’d have to go for a whole set or tell the kids that they don’t get the upgrade if they are sitting in 2nd class
