Hello All,

another update I'm not thrilled to be making, especially after such a long period of radio silence.

Having gotten through the first few months of fatherhood, I found ten seconds free to do some work on the van in preparation for another episode of my YouTube series.

I began by removing the fuel tank to replace my in-tank pump that had failed- resulting in average starting and surging in 1st gear.

If the replacement pump lasts 320,000kms I'll be very happy.
I then spent the afternoon washing under the van and getting it camera ready. Having finished I decided to fill the fuel tank.

On my way home the vehicle behind me at the traffic lights decided to test the structural integrity of my van.

Thankfully this time around- the other driver has insurance.

So while I wait for the results of my assessment inspection to come back (been waiting over a month now), I got busy.

Hopefully I can find another door in good condition for not a great deal of money.

I'm hoping my hard work means that whatever pay out amount is awarded, cant be solely put toward having the van sprayed.

I have hoarded too many parts, and completed to many significant life events in this van to give up on it.

Hopefully my next post includes another door fitted and ready to hit the road

Sucks about the damage mate you’re not having a lot of luck with it.

Shame you’re not in NSW I have a couple of sets of doors.

Yeah it's less than ideal.

Someone posed the theory the other day, the red is like a flag to a bull hence people keep "charging" into it.

We'll see how the hunt goes, I am hoping to source something more local

Well it’s another day and another white door.

Image

This one being much newer and cleaner than the last- having come off a 2021 caddy.
I now know a lot more about the latch and loom differences between the early vs later vans.

No matter we’re now here.

Thankfully the insurance pay-out won’t leave me out of pocket if you don’t take any body or paint work into account.
Now begins the slow trudge to save to pay for paint again.
I’ll try to come up with a video that isn’t dull to watch- as it definitely feels like we’ve covered this topic before!

I'm very happy to be back behind the wheel- a new brake booster vacuum hose and it'll be back to it's pre accident condition.
