What could I have a go at?

Hi,

I've already done quite a few things to the van, wheels, suspension, leather seats, rear seat conversion, fully insulated sound deadend rear and other bits...
I'm looking for other smaller things to do that won't cost too much (Christmas looming with 2 small kids) and ideally something I can do myself as I'm getting a bit bored. I'm feeling creative.

Any ideas??

Must say the armrest is priceless. I installed it and thought why was it never there in the first place.

Yeah I'm after an armrest but most of the ones I see up for sale look like they've had a dog chewing on them.

I fitted one of the retro retrims armrest covers on mine as it was a bit tatty and didn’t match the rest of the interior.

If you haven’t already, Touran dash (and the rest of the interior)? It’s such a big improvement over the plastic crap caddy dash. Can pick the lot up dirt cheap these days and it’ll keep you busy for a while. Looks a daunting job but it’s not nearly as bad as you think. The dash you can easily do in a day, add carpets door cards, centre console and it feels like a much nicer place. Paint your light grey plastic trims dark grey? Roof lining and parcel shelf too.

I've a load of carpet and adhesive left so I might do the roof lining in the front. Yeah that Touran dash swap looks daunting, could possibly be beyond me but I may have a look into it after Christmas.

It’s honestly not hard at all. It’s just undoing torx screws and unclipping trims. I did a how to in my build thread which explains exactly how to do it. Well worth it.

Apologies for the quoting; I don't have access to pm yet. Appreciate this is an old post but like the sliding cover on the centre console. Can you provide me some more information about this?

Thanks

Hi JackHale14

I copied this from another forum member.

I stripped out the sliding cover and box from a golf, then after a bit of measuring I cut out the old touran cup holders and plastic welded the sliding cover in. The heater pipes to the back of the centre console needed a little bit of reshaping with a heat gun to create the space for the sliding covers box, however you could remove though.

I then wrapped the full console in black leather effect vinyl to match the arm rest.

Diesel heater for those very cold mornings, press a button on the remote from inside the house and get into a lovely and warm van! Doubles up as a windscreen defroster too 😄
