Re: 2012 Caddy - The Silver Cloud
@Jeremy Caddy the van had a random head unit, recently installed which I'll be selling, but it had a really weak (or none) amp with it, so I can actually hear what I'm listening to now.
Android Auto is brilliant with it, and I find the voice recognition with the mic really effective, even at motorway speed.
I'm going to put some additional speakers in the rear, but this is for the rear passengers and part of a longer term plan.

Great info, thanks. Rears in my 2011 Maxi Life are pants, not helped by them being so far away so they'll need to be changed. I'm not well up on amps and stuff so lots of reading to do

Re: 2012 Caddy - The Silver Cloud
So whilst I've been quiet on here for a bit I thought I'd send over an update on the van, I went to Darkside Developmenets for their 6 speed conversion, which has been installed for about 6-7 months now, so the data is along the lines of:
It was a re-mapped engine by EcoBoost (as I bought it) with about 150bHP (as per paperwork, not tested), around 40 MPG.
After the install the MPG has improved by betweeen 7-10%, which based on my mileage (20k per year will see about a 4 year payback on fuel.........
BUT the HUGE improvement is in engine noise, cruising in 6th gear is now a far more relaxed experienced (as I do a lot of miles), I actually feel like I haven't lost my hearing after gettting out of the van after 2 hours on the motorway.
Cost of the conversion is £1,550 (inc. VAT) supply and install (02Q) as of Nov 22.

I've also had a custom bumper made to fit the front as per the pictures.

I've also swapped out the rear lights for Mk4 and swapped the rear bumper over for a custom one as well, just looking at options for the side now.

Hi, that mk8 front bumper has certainly livened up the front end, Looks great.
Who done it out of interest?
There is a small company up the road from me on essex who make these. They are spot on both painted and fitment, and priced Accordingly for the amount of work that goes into producing these.

Re: 2012 Caddy - The Silver Cloud
It was a company in Essex that did the work for me, I was working in the South East.
His page on FB is Custom Hybrid Bumpers, so might be the same person. I think for the front it was around £1,500 and the rear was around £950.
Hats off to the quality and install though, was a great customer journey and I've had plenty of positive feedback about the setup.

Re: 2012 Caddy - The Silver Cloud
I used the Blackvue DR590W with Power Magic Pro front and rear camera system, which has been great, although I'm now looking at moving that into my Mrs car and looking at the Thinkware dash cams as well as the alternative Wolfbox.
