Re: Remap worth it?
My van was mapped at Wolfsburg by the previous owner.
2.0 stage one £250, nice linear power returns around 47-55 mpg

Re: Remap worth it?
Definitely worth it. I got a stage 1 map on my 2ltr tdi recently. Worth every penny.

Re: Remap worth it?
I have ex BG Maxi 2.0 - It was limited to 72 MPH - I had limiter removed and mapped, This has gave the van a big spring in its step, better fuel economy - It already had the Ad Blue knocked off and runs sweet as a nut - My humble opinion - Remap- Totally worth it!

Re: Remap worth it?
I did a remap on my 1.6 diesel cayd with 7 speed dsg that had only done 25,000km. Made a big difference, however the gearbox fell apart 2 months later. I m lucky enough to have been offered a 6 speed dsg and so I fitted that, still need to get that tuned mind you.
If it's getting a tune maybe price allow for a tune/mods on the 7 speed so it can handle the power, there a very weak gearbox i believe

Re: Remap worth it?
How many hp you got? I have asked in several places and each of them share different visions:
- 180hp easily without issue
- Other one said to be conservative and increase 30hp only
What about the fuel consumption? Did it increase too much?

Re: Remap worth it?
I had a remap, went through 3 clutches in as many months, including a heavy duty performance one.
Had it put back to standard and now ready to sell the van

Re: Remap worth it?
Yes its worth it.
BUT beware there are remaps and remaps.
Steer clear of any plug in tuning gizmos - they do not work. Likewise too many lad with laptop outfits are happy to mess with your ecu, take your cash and then leave you with a potentially undrivable vehicle.
Your best bet is to choose a really long established and well respected tuning firm like Pendle Performance or one of their accredited partners. They will always use a rolling road to produce a specific remap to precisely match your vehicle which will deliver extra power and better fuel consumption and once complete will take you out in it for a test run to ensure the van is safe and driveable.
Sadly man with lap top outfits tend to quickly upload whatever ECU map they have to hand (which might not be really suitable for your vehicle) and then dissapear with your money leaving you to sort out any resulting issues.
When it comes to remaps you really get what you pay for. So before making any changes to a vehicle, all professional tuners will carry out a careful preliminary survey to identify any potential vehicle defects (drivechain and brakes) and won't hesitate to let you know if a remap would be a bad idea. So if your clutch is knackered don't bother booking an appointment.
What this also means is that remaps with professional tuners are not quick as they will spend time to find out exactly what you want the remap to deliver? More power? Better fuel consumption? Or some middle compromise - in terms of extra oomph without serious impact on the entire drive chain longevity.
The 2012+ Caddy TDI engines and power train were basically the same engine fitted in many other VAG models. VAG generally installed a less performance rated map onto their van range ECUs. This approach basically delivered reliability over performance.
However as the engines were often the same, you would not be pushing the limits if you chose to remap a 2.0tdi to the 170hp output which Skoda Superb models were offered with as standard.
4 Motion is not an issue for professional tuners despite most only using a single axle rolling road. They will simply unplug the Haldex cable and then once the van is anchored down can tune it just like any 2WD.
A professional remap will put the biggest smile on your face and allow your Caddy to overtake with confidence.
PS I do not own or have shares in Pendle, but I have used them in the past and was totally happy with the result, and if you mention this forum they even offer a discount.
