Gringo's White Caddy

Post by esoe88 »

Figured I'd start a project thread, although it's going to be pretty slow.

Due to me using it lightly for work as an electrician it's going to be a mini project, nothing special, just clean and simple.

After being out of the scene for a while, this thing's given me a huge bite and I literally can't stop looking at parts every night :lol: It's ace getting that feeling back.

Current spec (updating as I go):

* 2013, 1.6 TDI remapped to approx. 140bhp (apparently, although it definitely feels nippy for a van)
* Colour coded bumpers, bump strips and mirrors
* Colour coded rear spoiler
* Smoked wind deflectors
* Fog lights
* Lowered on coilovers
* 18" 3SDM wheels
* Blacked out grill
* Blacked out rear VW badge
* Tinted windows
* De-wipered rear
* Wolfsburg edition rear reg' plate holder
* Carbon fibre effect rear bumper protector
* Smoked side repeaters
* Pressed reg plates
* Roof rails and cross roof bars
* Sat-nav headunit
* White LED 'courtesy' / map light bulbs
* Facelift rear lights
* LED rear number plate lights
* Mk4 dynamic sweeping side repeaters

Current plans:

* Alloy refurb and change of colour (Possibly bronze'ish)
* Ply and carpet the rear
* Three stage polish and protection to get her gleaming again
* Reverse camera brake light set-up
* New speakers (These things are terrible)
* Golf GTI front bumper
* Mk4 rear bumper
* White headlight bulbs
* Caddy life mirrors

We'll see what happens from then on.

Tiny update to start things off -

White LED courtesy lights fitted and sorted after only one bulb was working - Picture doesn't do it justice at all. Sat nav headunit has arrived so that's on the cards for the weekend 8)

Cross bars arrived and fitted. Also found out why the left speaker is brutally bad... Alpine speakers at home and ready to fit this weekend.

Little update!

1 - Fogs have now been sorted, seems the spade connectors hadn't been crimped properly so a nice easy fix :D

2 - Holes in the rear from old boards have been filled, sanded and painted (forgot to get a painted picture!). Underneath to be undersealed in due course.

Image

3 - Pressed plates fitted

Image

4 - Facelift tinted rear lights fitted tonight. Just needs coding to remove the warning light. If anyone fancies doing this for beer tokens, please apply within :lol:

Image

5 - Side repeaters in the kitchen ready to be fitted this weekend instead of the ugly black blobs it's currently wearing

Image

Ply and carpet is to be bought very soon to get the party properly started! :D

Just a picture the girl for good measure!

Great work! Where did you get your crossbars from? My rails came with some but they’re a bit naff!

Cheers lads! 8)

I got mine off ebay from vanstyle, they're pretty good to be fair, just a bit of faff to put on (could've been just me being a fool though).

Looking tidy. What bulbs did you use for the interior lights?

LED rear reg plate lights fitted today whilst hungover wahey!

What should've been a 5 minute job took 45 after pushing to hard while screwing the new lights in, accidentally dislodging and pushing the light holders into the bar. Basically, don't do what I did :lol:

Ah well, done now and definitely make a lovely difference...

Finally got round to fitting the facelift dynamic sweeping side repeaters!

After modding the repeaters on the rear with a multi-tool as per one of the images (rather than butchering the wing to make them fit), the old repeaters were removed, wires cut off the old plugs, soldered the wires on to the new ones and then stuck on the wing using 3M tape = WIN!

Seriously awesome little mod :D
