Re: TFSI Swap
so here's the donor car, cost me £1200. She's a VW Eos with a 2.0 tfsi 6 speed manual and has 71k miles on the clock. engine code is BWA so is equipped with a k03 turbo which will be more than enough to start out with in the caddy.

Re: TFSI Swap
after cleaning the engine bay to help with my motivation to crack on with the swap the first thing I did was check for fault codes with VCDS and I also checked for timing chain stretch. from what I've read online the cam adjustment angles should be no more than 0.5 degrees between specified and actual which mine is fine. the other value to check is the phase position bank 1 intake which any reading above 5 degrees indicates the timing chain should be replaced immediately, mine is reading 7 degrees so I will be replacing the timing chains, timing belt and water pump before pulling the engine from the Eos.

Re: TFSI Swap
I couldn't wait any longer before fitting some shiny new parts to the Eos. Spark plugs changed for NGK Iridiums p/n BKR7EIX and some Audi R8 coils also from NGK p/n 48041

Re: TFSI Swap
Will be definitely watching this one.
Just recently had my 1.6tdi swapped to the same engine as yours but kept the van dsg as before with the same gearbox from said eos.
Honestly this is a day and night difference performance wise and also how much quiter the van is on idle.
I remember picking it up from hef and medz and the first stop at a junction I came to I thought the engine had cut out it was that quit
love it though, enjoy the fruits of your labour buddy

Re: TFSI Swap
Okay, so my slave cylinder burst on my caddy this week so rather than fixing this I’m just going to crack on with the engine swap, chains belts etc can get done once it’s all in the caddy.
Started stripping the van down today, just to finish disconnecting the wiring loom and lines and the 1.6tdi will be good to come out. The reason I’ve removed the front wings is because I’m going to be getting my engine bay painted in Audi Venetian Violet to match the rest of the van

Re: TFSI Swap
Removed the engine today, no engine crane required, just lowered it down on the jack. Going to get a hold of a crane for the tfsi lump to go in though. Removed the washer and coolant bottle and also the fuse box ready to begin prep for the engine bay to be painted

Looking forward to following your build it seems a popular choice for engine conversions

Re: TFSI Swap
Engine bay is now painted and lacquered
Now to refit the wings, arch liners, fuse box etc and clear the garage of any parts which aren’t required before I remove the parts I need from the Eos

Re: TFSI Swap
Wings and arch liners refitted. All the wiring back in place as well as coolant bottle and washer fluid bottle. I’ve fitted the donor driveshafts, heater pipes, master to slave cylinder pipe and gear change cable ends.
Also got my Trackslag 3.5” silenced monster downpipe sitting in place. Well worth the £380, the quality is second to none. Fits well just need to massage the heatsheilds into place.
