Hey guys! Well, i've finally got it into a shape where I was happy to take some pictures and start a build thread!

Bought from the forum.. highlights are: 56 plate 1.9tdi 104, DSG with R32 wheel and paddles/ stereo buttons working. Aircon and electric pack. Full solid bulkhead.

First job for me was to get some life and reflection into the paint.. when I get more time, I'll flat/ wetsand/ colour sand (choose which ever term you like!) the whole van. For now I've just done the front end (bonnet, wings & doors excluding sliding) this takes out the orange peel and really gives the avn some deep reflections. To do it properly is very time consuming! (2-3 days to do the whole van excluding roof)

First panel is block sanded to remove peel.. eg on drivers door:

then polished back (half polished!)

then polished more until every last mark is out in direct light :

leaves it looking like this:

Washed the van again, and took some pics as it was still light. At this stage front end just needed a finishing polish and wax, rest of the van not even polished.

finally managed to give the rest a quick machine polish and wax (orange peel removal can wait till I have more time!) and cut some graphics for it. Ready for work tomorrow:

More updates to come! currently weighing up wheel designs while I save for coilovers and wheels!

cheers,

James

Hi mate, too much to explain here really but you need a lot of experience and kit to do it properly.. Polisher, different grades of paper, paint depth measuring tools etc etc. have a look on http://www.detailingworld.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if you're new to it.

More sanding done over the last few days.. just the drivers side back to do!

Picked up some front coilies from mr. Mini bike (cheers mike!) now just gotta source the rear KW flip kit.

Also organised my winter wheels, a mate is selling some audi 17's for not too many pennies, so I think they will be on for the winter.. a quick photochop of how I hope she'll be looking before long:

Todays update! Winter wheels are on, more polishing (now only one panel left to get the peel off!)

Some shots in the sun outside the unit:

Just gotta source the rear flip kit and then she'll be getting lowered. Some seats, then that'll be me until the winter!

cheers,
