Re: ASBO PD130
Thanks mate
Just received a text to say my rear Whiteline ARB is turning up Monday! Only ordered it in June!
So the current list is:
Strip rear and raptor seal underside
Fit rear leaf and leaf mount pollybushes
Fit rear Whiteline ARB
Fit BC coilovers
Convert to electric rack as my hydraulic rack has exploded
S3 rear brakes as my current rear bleed nipples have seized
Hoping the wiring for the electric rack isn’t too complicated. From what I’ve worked out from about a year of reading is 2 wires to the power train canbus at the steering wheel and 1 to the steering angle sensor at the steering wheel. Then coding which isn’t an issue. Someone correct me if I’m wrong!
Plenty to do over the winter!

Re: ASBO PD130
I also forgot to mention that I coded in my touran mirrors the other day. The previous owner had fitted them and the indicators never worked. After realising that if I’ve got electric mirrors and electric windows, then I must have touran door control modules. I had a quick look at the coding and sure enough once I coded them they worked straight away. So touran wings are on the list to get soon!
Also had a MK7 key made up after misplacing mine. I’m sure I’ll find it now I’ve spent out on a new key

That key looks bang on, could always demote my good key as my work key and get one of these as my good key plenty of other things first though

If I hadn’t of lost my other key, the MK7 key would probably never of happened. Always thought it was cool but not cool enough to spend the money on lol

Re: ASBO PD130
So quite a few bits done on the caddy over this weekend just gone!
So as I mentioned previously the hydraulic rack exploded on me. The Whole underside of the car was covered in hydraulic fluid which wasn’t particularly pleasant. The coilovers that were on the car were some unknown brand and well past their prime. So off came the entire subframe!
Snap taken from my Instagram excuse the text:
We then pulled the existing hydraulic rack out along with all the lines ect
The unknown brand of coilover:
Coilovers out:
Then was time for the fun part. Looking at the paint under the wheel arches, it has definitely seen some better days. We mixed up some of my base coat with U-Pols Raptor Liner and got to work coating the underside and the front wheel arches
Raptor lined arches:
Now was time to replace the unknown with something that is well known. A set of BC RM Coilovers
Coilovers fitted:
In went a Gen 3 Electric Rack from an Audi S3 and up went the freshly washed subframe with a new deadset kit. It turns out the old deadset kit didn’t want to come off the old bolts!
Subframe up:
Hubs bolted up to the suspension:
Arch liners back in:
And down she went. I’m going to play around with the height once I’ve got the back done and the fronts settle but it’s pretty much the same height it was. I want a bit lower
On the floor:

Nothing to update on the van. So here’s a picture of it in the snow we’ve had recently. Really itching to get it working again. Missing driving it

Re: ASBO PD130
Nice build mate. I like that you’ve done all the bits you can’t see as well as the bits you can. The Asbo green looks class against the grey too. Looking forward to seeing more of this.

Re: ASBO PD130
Thanks mate. If I didn’t do the bits you can’t see I would always know at the back of my mind that they aren’t done
Very small update;
After noticing my fuel lines weeping I decided to order some braided ones. These replace the feed and return along with the coolant hose.
Much better looking and no more perished fuel and water lines. Seems my coolant bottle is cracked so I will be replacing that soon as well. Does it ever end?

Re: ASBO PD130
After over a month of waiting, all the wiring bits I ordered finally turned up. This will (I hope) finish off the Electric steering rack conversion and mean I can finally drive my van again.
We have:
VW canbus wiring in the correct colours along with loom tape, 3 pin VW plugs and some uninsulated crimps. I’m hoping to achieve an OEM look whilst being able to unplug it should I ever need to (if the rack needs to come out ect)
