Seats for 2021 Model Caddy

Post by PCONN »

Looking to see has anyone fitted alternative seats to a 2021 Caddy, if so does Golf seats fit without alterations?

Do you mean the latest generation 2021+ or the previous generation 2015-2021 Caddy?

From a glance at the parts database there are some differences. For starters, there's no bolt in frame like there is in the MK3 or 4 (middle image), its part of the chassis on the 5 as you can see in the first image. The rail looks slightly different as well - you can see a small tab on one of them (next to the #26 in the bottom photo). Whether it would still be easy to swap with other vehicles I'm afraid no one seems to know yet and maybe the only way is for someone to borrow a seat and see whether it would fit in the 5.

where these built to VAG or FOMOCO standards? will determine what seats fit the platform. If the latter you will be more likely to find Ford Focus seats that fit. I have no idea.

You’ll have issues.

The MK5 is essentially a Ford Transit with a VW engine…

@AndrewB

I pay for a subscription to partslink24 which is the company that produce the parts databases for about 35 manufacturers including VW. Its £25.20 per month or £13.20 per day to access it so to justify that I try and help wherever I can on forums and friends/family searching parts.

A reasonable assumption, as the styling is arguably closer to Ford than VW, but not correct.

The Mk5 Caddy is a VW design - based on VW's MQB platform, so there should be a fair bit of commonality with later VW group cars. The current Ford Transit Connect is built for Ford on the same platform by VW in Poland.

For comparison with the Caddy 5 image above, this is the seat base and runner from a Golf 8 which looks very similar to Caddy 5, although the rails look slightly different as the Caddy one has the little tab facing down on the front.

This is from the Ford Transit Connect and looks identical to the Caddy 5 as we would expect. Should mean if someone fits a different seat into either the Caddy or the Connect then it could work in the other.

The Golf 7 was based on the MQB platform as also is the Touran from 2015, so might be worth exploring
