A little trimming tip for anyone trying their hand….at some point, you WILL get glue on the face surface of your material.
Image
I’ve done this deliberately by the way Image
Just to give it some scale it was about the size of my phone
Image

Most importantly and in the immortal words of Lance Corporal Jones (Dads Army for you whippersnappers) DON’T PANIC!! Chill out for a few seconds and get yourself a new knife blade, leave it untouched for a minute or so, and then very gently pick the glue away from the material with the blade by sliding the blade under the glue and lift it away.
Image

On microfibre material it’ll vanish without a trace be it Alcantara, Milano suede, dinamica, or cheap alternatives. Try it yourself on an off cut & you’ll see how easy it comes away.
Image

This is my headlining covered with Marino Suede but it’s exactly the same process on the brown Alcantara in the rest of the van Image

Giotec daily - Everything you've never seen before.

Post by TheGee »

So, here’s a rundown of the changes in the past two weeks…..

Brakes:
Porsche 18z front with 356mm discs and 18z rear calipers fitted with Aston DB9 handbrake calipers on 330mm discs.

Suspension:
Still Static custom rear beam currently with bilstein dampers while I work on mounting the Air Lift 3H tank, manifold and compressor inside the van. Once they’re done it’ll be on the still static struts and rear bags.
Image

Bodywork:
2019 Touran R hybrid front bumper with PDC, custom grill and matching insert.
Smoothed bonnet to complete debadged front end.
Deleted wing indicators.
2014 Touran wing mirrors with custom smoked and sequential indicators and HD cameras in place of the puddle lights.
Side bump strip thingies removed and smoothed as well as the sliding door handle, rear wiper hole, rear door key hole, and roof wind channels.
Front door handles smoothed and locks removed.
New heated Mk4 windscreen and side glass with photochromic film on side windows.
Windscreen wipers removed & oem brackets welded for sequential sweep wipers.
Rear windows replaced with solid black unheated privacy glass from a caddy maxi.
3rd brake light removed and smoothed from passenger barn door along with rear wiper hole, handle rail smoothed and de-locked and HD camera added.
VW badge removed and smoothed with new badge colour coded and relocated to centre of its door aligned with number plate.
Sliding door runner painted black.
Hybrid rear bumper made from caddy mk4 upper and 2021 Audi RS3 lower including PDC, diffuser and oem RS3 tailpipes (yet to be fitted.)
Full respray in a very limited edition candy brown pearl from an Italian car manufacturer wot don’t like people using their colours Image
Image

While it was stripped I also fitted dual Mk7.5 horns, mk4 washer bottle with level sensor, front and rear pdc, wired the heated windscreen and heated washer jets looms from Tommyzooom, mounted an Anderson socket underneath connected to the battery (I don’t have key locks anymore), fitted alarm proximity sensors under both bumpers, metal under tray (thanks to Toffee2k for the link) under floor plastics from a touran and made a complete moulding of the floor pan ready to start the mountings for the midbass speakers.

The transporter rear roof spoiler is back on the thought bench as the new Vauxhall Astra estate 3rd brake light didn’t suit the build. Also, because the air ride wasn’t fitted the rear leaf hanger brackets are exactly where the exhausts go so I’m without tailpipes for a while lol Image and the wheels no longer fit because the brakes are enormous so I’m running it with 20mm spacers and no arch liners but these are the unforeseen joys of ruining a perfectly good work van ImageImage

Thanks for the thought Gman but the intention is to have passenger and driver doors identical with the single switch on the door. The pocket is mostly covered anyway so it’d be a pain having to remove the cover every time I needed to use my window

Hey, dude! Sounds like you got quite the project going on with your Caddy! Just remember, focus is key when tackling any task. Take it one step at a time, give each project vehicle the attention it deserves, and before you know it, you'll have them both running like a dream. And hey, if things get overwhelming, don't hesitate to ask for help or seek advice from fellow car enthusiasts online or in your community. Keep up the good work, and remember, slow and steady wins the race!
Take a look at auto repair Manchester NH and don't forget to explore healthcare equipment for more details. While you're at it, check out witchcraft for some useful insights.
