I totally get it! If i dont have a project I start to research now project ideas. And the projects I end upp with rarely makes financially sence. They tend to make sence in the beginning, but that usually doesnt last very long. And right now Im more feeling like building an engine rather than doing and body och interior related stuff. Even started to look for engines at diffent used part sites... would be nice to swap the 1,6 tdi and even more so swap out the dq200 transmission. But what I end up with nobody knows. Do you use an aftermarket ECU or the ECU for the VR6? Im guessing an aftermarket one.Pineapple1984 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 9:38 pm ...Even when someone comes in to the workshop and says.. why it’s just a Van?? “Yeah well your never understand, go and buy a golf R”![]()

@Poffe
Oh yeah, no financial sense whatsoever. That’s something I can’t argue with. But it does keep your brain working chasing a project trying to work out what will work. What won’t work. Can I use that off of that car… No. okay so what can I use and so on.
I’m currently running a VW R32 ecu that has been mapped to run the forced induction setup. The joy of Vw ecu is the immobiliser works with the rest of the van. Although It’s not ideal as it was never designed for FI so no fail safe. Now I’m upping the power im going to go on to a stand alone system.
You can use the Audi a3 ecu but your need to get the immobiliser removed (immo off) as it won’t work with the Vw electronics and run an aftermarket immobiliser. This is how I done mine when I started doing it.

You are totally right there. The sound of the VR6 you will never get bored of. Sometimes I just go out and start mine just to hear the soundPineapple1984 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 8:27 pm @Ryan3633 - exactly! Can’t beat a vr6 for sound…

@Sean1066 Hello mate! Yeah I still think it’s a great engine. Have you got a custom exhaust or are you on standard silencer? I did read through your thread before I started mine but that feels like a long time ago now

I had a custom one made. I also had an exhaust flap put in to bypass the rear silencer at the touch of a button.
I would say have a look on my build thread but doc hasn’t managed to get it but yet.

Yeah I think that’s what I’m going to have to go with. Also need to get on and get a custom fuel tank made as I’ve still got the fuel cell in the back. Works fine but just a bit of crap way of doing it.

I am very happy with my vr6 conversion but I would like the 4wd setup..looking at yours it does look like a lot of work

@Damo2k Hello mate, the 4 motion and independent suspension is night and day difference to the leafs. No matter what you do with leafs your never get the same outcome as the coils and independent setup.
I really want an oem look and to achieve that it involves a load of prep work. and I couldn’t have done it to the standard it is without Shrek’s expertise.
Talking of that, Shrek’s going to come up with a far simpler installation method of attaching a rear subframe to a caddy so il get him to start a thread on here. Hope your keeping well vans looking great, hope your enjoying the Vr setup.

The bigger drive pulley for the supercharger shaft on the right. I didn’t get a picture of the smaller charger pulley but it’s about 4 teeth smaller so takes it to a stage 3 set up.
