Do u think there is enough wiggle room to put 4way stretch carpet in there instead of the felt ?

Yeah I’d say so. I think I will double up on the felt and see if that cures it completely. Will report back Image

So a break in the rain gave me a chance to get out and have another look at the whistling mirror situation.

I just had a good push and pull on all the mirror plastics and lo-and-behold I found the lower section of trim broken.

Image

The outer fixing tab where the screw goes through had been snapped off but was still screwed in place so whipped the trim off, glued the tab back on, re-fitted it and took her for a drive….

Pleased to report - no more annoying noise!

Fitted the wireless charger today. Super easy. Just had to take a few tabs off the underside of the tray. Stuck it on and then made a little loom up to tag into the 12v cigar lighter wiring.

Picked up the rubber tray mat from TPS which has the wireless charging symbol on it (I got the part number reading through one of the build threads on here… I can’t remember which one as I think I’ve read pretty much all of them!) but thank you to whoever that was! Really finishes it off nicely.

Hi stu_b

324441536206

Here’s a link to the unit,

(*edited post as Amazon link doesn’t seems to paste properly. This is an eBay item number, same unit though*)

Comes with the wiring required. It’s literally 2 wires to power.
I modified the loom supplied by adding a little 4 pin Deutsch plug rather than using the scotch lock connectors sent with the unit. I find these a bit unreliable (and a bit brutal) you could always use a wago connector also which be simpler again.. So that’s the little loom I made up. I should have taken more pics but I was too keen to get it fitted.

Part number of the rubber mat is -

2k5 863 330 989

Again, the idea and part numbers were stolen from another thread on here so I can’t take any credit for it!

Cheers,

It’s made by a company called INBAY. Have a google search for INBAY kit 3 coil wireless charger.

Wolfsburg Caddy (minor) Build

I’ve been having trouble with the side bars taking quite a battering over some particularly aggressive speed humps we have in work. It seems no matter how slowly I drive over them the van bottoms out quite badly.

I noticed since then that the drivers side bar wasn’t sitting as tight to the sill as it used to…

Passenger side

I do like the look of them but decided to take them off anyway just so the van is more practical, and also it’s a pain in the butt to jack the thing up with them fitted.
The damage to the fixing bracket is substantial, so I was quite surprised.

Also if I lay the side bars side by side, the drivers side is bent which makes it about and inch shorter than the passenger.

As she now looks without them

Another job ticked off, although not a particularly exciting one! Didn’t take long though so have plenty of time left today to give her a clean!

Quick mod today, cable tied the bonnet release joint whilst I was checking the under bonnet levels

That's a really good thing to do. It was one of the first I did on mine when I got it.
If you haven't already, put a piece of hose pipe over the spare wheel bolt threads if you have one
