Haha! Same scenario here, extra space of kombi taken up with rear seats, so no benefit over short caddy, unless of course you need the extra seating. Hopefully there's a market for caddy rear seats...

Yes Rear seats come out easily but i need to carry 3 bikes and 3 people. I haven't tried it yet but i think its going to be a squeeze. one of those cool rear racks that hang from the tailgate might be needed.

I have a 7 seater maxi and in summer months have carried three mountain bikes and driver plus two passengers with ease.

It does require removal of the twin rear row of seats and also the twin seat from the middle row. Then with carefull packing and ample ratchet straps you should be able to get three full size mountain bikes to fit in the gap alongside the single seat in the middle row. I recommend carrying a decent tarp to protect the interior as bikes tend to be a lot muddier on the return trip.

I have not tried this with a SWB.

Cheers Snowhite, thats excellent, I was spoilt with space a few years ago as I had a lwb vivaro and on biking days out I could take the bikes easily along with a made up patio table, 6 chairs and a massive barbecue trouble is 95% of the time I was just carrying empty space and not very nimble to use every day. Fuel economy was a bit pants to. Caddy maxi really is the ideal motor if you're the active busy type. Glad I bit the bullet and bought one.
