Cheers mate, weather depending I will hopefully get it back on its wheels tonight. I'll have it jacked up initially so I can get the tracking done, I'll then drop it back to the lowest settings and see how it looksBaldspeed Racing wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 7:55 am nice set up there dude, looking forward to seeing how she sits now. still love how she looks on the steelies

Looking great so far, those interior shots are super useful and great shout on ordering the foam seal for when I do this myself.

I'm so close to ordering the same set of wheels for mine, just need my house sale to finally be sorted and I will be picking a set up. Can I do a cheeky ask on how long you've had them and are they ok so far?

This is a great looking caddy! Love the details and those front hubs look brilliant. Would like to know how much better it drives with the powerflex bushings in the leaf springs as I'm yet to do mine

Re: Nath‘s Reflex Silver 1.6TDI Match
Not updated my thread in a while, life has typically got in the way!!
So following on from above the Darkside Developments kit is fully installed, thought not without its issues!! When fitting the Darkside shackle kit I set it so the wheel would be centred and the the level to 80mm drop which I believed would be fine as the previous shackle kits (suspected to be Stance) was on the lowest setting!! Unfortunately even on this setting it was rubbing on the rear arch liners. At this point I went to get the wheel alignment done following all the changes I had made.
I had read others had seen issues when fitting the Darkside kit, one of the options was to remove arch liners which wasn't for me or use some arch liners from Caddy that had 16" wheels so armed with the part numbers 2K5810971A & 2K5810972 from @Lister79's thread https://www.caddy2k.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1A#p405677 I place order number 4 from LLLParts!!!
While waiting the typical 2 to 3 week lead-time I set about adjusting the rear axle to be biased forward to try to stop the rubbing. This in turned caused its own issues, as it was pretty much sitting on the already cut down bumpstops. Following the Darkside guidance a hacked off the bumpstops in line with their how to guide, this then highlighted a further issue the length of the studs for the shackle kit which over small to moderate bumps were banging against the metal part of the bumpstop. I got my tape measure out and worked out I could get away with some studs 20mm shorter, after changing these no more catching!!!!
After getting this sorted we had a family trip down to RIAT as my lad loves planes. The Caddy performed perfectly especially on the A/B roads Heading North towards Coventry making our way to the M1. It was nice and tight, the 1.6TDI might be a bit slow but it goes round corners like its on rails Just need to sort out my proper brake upgrade and then I can brake later
My LLLParts order finally arrived, while I was ordering the arch liners I thought I would order all brand new fixings and also a replacement fold down cup holder for the Touran centre arm rest as this was damaged when I got it.
However since this order arrived apart from the cup holder I have not had opportunity to fit them. When I do get round to it I will set the final ride height for both front and rear as the front Bilsteins are just set on the height they were when they arrived!
In between time I been collecting numerous parts for future improvements, this one I'm most excited about

Re: Nath‘s Reflex Silver 1.6TDI Match
Just before going to get the Mk7.5 GTE front bumper I went to a bodyshop https://www.instagram.com/adv_body_repair_/ which is fairly local to me to discuss my plans. While I had my bonnet up he pointed out I had diesel pooling on the top on my engine
A quick look on here and I suspected the diesel injector return line was leaking, so rather than wait for an LLLParts order I thought for some small o-rings I'd just go to my local VW dealership. All I can say is ouch £18 later I walked away with 4 tiny green o-rings. Had a look at it and didn't seem much of a job so set about stripping it down. Carefully took out the spring clips, took off the old o-rings at which point I noticed on cylinder 3 that the rubber pipe and fitting which goes into the injector were different like they had been changed for non-genuine parts previously. Anyway I pushed on, getting apart was dead easy putting back together was certainly not. Those spring clips are a swine. I managed to get it all back together feeling dead proud of myself. I go the gaffer to start the engine for me only to find that 3 out of 4 pipes hadn't gone in right and filled the top of the engine with diesel
I had a number of goes at trying to rectify and decided that the fittings didn't seem to want to go back into the injectors properly or maybe the spring clips were buggered. What finished me off was losing one of the spring clips, it bounced off for the final time and was never to be seen again. So I decided the best course of action was to place order number 5 will LLLParts and order a new fuel return line, this is a new design and also comes with different size orange o-rings. I also ordered some new spring clips, a new bonnet strut as mine was mega rusty and a new bulkhead sound absorber/insulation.
New verses old
I'm happy to say after getting the new genuine fuel return line of new design it all went back together really easily with no issues. Especially after the lessons I learnt from before, I laid some old towels over the front and rear areas of the engine to ensure I didn't lose any spring clips. But I also order two extra ones just in case!! I am also happy to say it is now all leak free
I've also been buying more bits for future plans, so I have a set of 2019 Jetta stalks and a set of Caddy stalks so I can follow @Giddy's brilliant guide for Hybrid stalks. This is all in preparation of me purchasing and installing a MFSW, my preference is a Mk7 style as I loved the one in my AW Polo GTI
I also bought some Sirocco door modules in preparation of installing folding Caddy life mirrors, so again following the excellent guidance on here I have got the 5K0959792A & 5K0959793A door modules which I intend to get refreshed in the Caddy image so they are ready and waiting for when I get some Caddy life mirrors So I can see a trip to Bellman Auto Electronic Services in Sheffield which is just down the road to get these sorted and finally get the coding done for the mk4 lights
I just need to get my finger out fit the rear arch liners and reset my rear beam to be wheel centred. Hopefully that will sort my issues other wise I may need to look at changing my tyres as my issues may be in part to do with tyre width as I have 225/45/R18 so if I dropped to a 215/40/R18 that may sort. But the new arch liners are a different shape so I'm hopeful they will sort the issue.
I'm also gearing up for LLLParts order number 6 which will consist of the new parts for the Touran door cards and the sliding centre arm rest so I can finally get them installed and clear the space in my garage

Re: Nath‘s Reflex Silver 1.6TDI Match
Cheers mate, just doing my own thing with my van and wanting to do it the right way. I’m a big believer in using genuine parts on the whole. Where I know the manufacturer who makes it for VW I‘m confident to buy from them, such as the many Meyle parts I have bought.Vanmandan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 3:26 pm Nice to see you posting back on here again mate been waiting an update, soft spot for your van. Part of the reason my bodywork plans are a little on hold is I‘m waiting to get genuine parts including some new genuine front wings. Mine have a little rust and just think if it’s started I may as well swap them out for new genuine ones rather than pattern parts
I still have the Stance coilovers mate if you‘re interested? Send me a PM

Looks like you’ve not registered for your profile to be updated mate which is why you don’t have facility to send PMs

I order my genuine parts through LLLParts mate, I registered on their site and they have been spot on. Well apart from their turn around times, but once you know what to expect it’s all good. The saving is certainly worth the wait!!

Loving this build, great motivation to get cracking on with my Maxi life.
Are you going with a full front conversion (lights, wings & bonnet , etc.) or does the GTE bumper fit with your existing wings and lights?

Re: Nath‘s Reflex Silver 1.6TDI Match
Cheers mate
My plan is to use the GTE front bumper to make a hybrid bumper much like people have with Golf R & Golf GTI bumpers. In the case of the GTE bumper, in comparison to Golf R/Golf GTI hybrids there are not so many out there. Plus there is the added cool factor of the DRLs
